Huntress was born knowing she would fail. It was as inevitable as her death.

Her parents left nothing much to imagination- two failures in the eyes of the Plague, in the eyes of the Almighty Mother.

The Priestess, her mother, was a foreboding force in her life- doomed to a life of misery serving a deity who had failed her. Who had betrayed her. From the very day her nest of three had hatched, she told them her story and warned them of their fate.

"You'll fail. You'll always fail." She would whisper as they sat beneath the watchful eyes of the Plaguebringer's effigy, doing their nightly prayer. "You will never amount to anything in Her eyes."

"Why even try?" Her mother rasped, weary eyes trailing her every move as she meticulously packed away her few belongings. "You know you will fail. It's in your blood, it's everything I've taught you- what is the point?"
