Biography

Mormus
*silence*
Mysterious Cowl
Tarnished Chain
Stuffed Alstroemeria Fox
A few months after Mormus and his family arrived at the Crimson Order, disaster struck. Their intention of finding a suitor for their eldest son had turned catastrophic to their history. Mormus’ young sister, only eleven at the time, was murdered overnight in their shared room. As Justice, the system itself, investigated the crime, Mormus stuck out as the only, and most probable, suspect.
He was brought to trial after arrest for the murder of his baby sister, his face wet with tears. He pleaded innocence and insisted the murderer was still out there, but he was ruled guilty by Justice and the jury. As Justice wiped his face and monocle, disgusted by the man’s actions, he resolved to use the one punishment he thought was inhumane. Mormus was to be sent to the rank, cold, and dark dungeons that hadn’t been used since Justice came into office. He would be the only one down there, aside from the guard bringing his pitiful form food every morning. That, and the scurrying rats.
As the guard tossed him into the cell, he grabbed the bars as the padlocked door shut. He pleaded for freedom and the guard spat at his talons. Mormus crept back into his cell and wept for what felt like hours, until he could no longer keep track of time. It was only the first night and yet he already felt like he was going mad. He missed the heartbeat of his old social life and the sound of women chattering at the sight of him. There was one of them... he shook the thought away and gazed into the torchlight, but he was startled back by a sound.
A footstep.
He inched toward the bars and a ghastly form entered his field of view. A particularly large, but still puny, fae dragon carrying naught but an empty sack and a torch. She looked at him bug-eyed but quickly regained her composure. She whispered to him an explanation that she hadn’t seen anyone down here for years, she is a doctor, and with a talon to her jaws, she whispered “shh.”
She soon disappeared from his view and his hopes faded along with her torchlight. He curled up again against a wall until he heard her approach again. This time, the sack was full.
He looked at her with bright eyes and, to his amazement, she produced a key from the pocket of her labcoat. She opened the door and told him to continue forward and duck into the doorway. She said that was her laboratory, and she’ll provide sanctuary. “I’ll catch up.”
As he entered he held his shroud close to him as he was amazed and dazzled by the content of the lab. There were many tables and desks, and not a door in sight. Each table had almost every square inch covered with notes and papers, a syringe on one, and pens and pencils and quills. In the center wall there was a cell - cage? - that housed not a single creature. He turned his head and saw an operating room with several devices he couldn’t identify laying next to the operating table. As his suspicion grew, he smelled something vile, something rank.
He turned to the ceiling and he was greeted with a horrific sight. Hanging from meat hooks were the skinned bodies of unidentifiable creatures. He noticed a dragon’s forearm hanging from a hook, along with a torso and leg, and a pair of wings. He backed up, stunned into silence, he was unable to hear the doctor coming up behind him.
She quietly grabbed the syringe next to him and jabbed him in the neck. He growled at her, ripping the instrument out of him. He thought the contents of the puny tool wouldn’t be enough to sedate him because of his massive size, but he felt his eyes struggling to stay open, and exhaustion creeping into his limbs. The doctor simply introduced herself.
“How rude of me, I almost forgot. My name is Mary Gorie.”
