Personality
Sasaki is quite a laid back individual, often relaxing in various places around the cavern. He's a little smug and a bit of a flirt, but he doesn't throw compliments to be mean. His often seemingly flirtatious teasing is just his way of trying to get someone to lighten up. Some people take kindly to it and others....take it way too seriously.
This young man is quite lovey and a bit too touchy for some, but it's all in good nature. It's just the way he's always been. Often confused when he's shoved away and a bit sad because of it. He just wants too cuddle. He is also hard to truly make angry, he's more for small and subtle acts of revenge, depending upon the circumstance. Rather than going after someone with the intent of serious harm, however, if pushed to such means. Sasaki won't hesitate and it will be in a smug fashion. Sasaki is also talented with his magic and often uses it to help map astronomy charts among other things. |

Backstory Sasaki was born in a very dusty, dark place. It must of been some sort of ancient structure where bookshelves piled as far as he could look up. Not much light got into the massive, stained glass windows as they were dulled with age. Their colors no longer as vibrant, but their stories still held meaning. |

Ketsueki Kaeru
"I see you are worthy of my companionship."
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
A war general who has seen many battles and unfortunately, slaughter as well. Always fighting to uphold what he views as just. The needs of his family and brood, out weigh the opinions of outsiders. Of such he has seen many. Countless foolish dragons and other creatures come stomping around his domain, only to to met with a swift and stern lesson. That is until Eitsuki came along, she finally bested the old toad in combat. It was then Ketsueki figured it was time for a change in his life. Age was taking it's toll on him and he had already left the town in the hands of his progeny. It wouldn't hurt to see the world from a different perspective. Not seen as a familiar, but an equal and treated as such. He aids in maintaining the small oni village as well as advice his rather naive, demonic company. ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

Notes of tengu/kenku
- firstly, they're both a variation of demon bird. That being said, it does one good not to get sucks into stereotypes.
- Tengu tend to be larger, anywhere from 6 - 12ft tall in avian form. Cranes, herons etc are often the tallest.
- Kenku tend to be relatively 'small', largest maybe reaching into 6ft.
- Tengu are usually more powerful.
- With tengus, bowing is a deeply revered gesture, good way to show and earn respect. The deeper the bow, the more honorable. Putting one's beak near the eyes or face of another is a hazard. This is one of the biggest opportunities for betrayal and to do so in such a moment is neigh unforgivable.
- Shiroi refuses to bow to anyone, it's no wonder considering a tengu permanently disfigured him.
- There is no real social division between the two, they can coexist quite easily. Tengu's are often impressed by stronger Kenku. But individual minds will do their thing.
- Adoption of each other's offspring and family isn't unheard of, it is more common for kenku to adopt.
- Groups are often small, but very close with one another.
- There is some division between family groups and 'bachelor groups' . The former usually consisting of demons related by blood, established and are usually very old or even ancient.
'bachelor' groups can just be cousins, siblings, fiends that never settle. or are a relatively new settlement. Fights over ownership of towns do happen.
settlements can be entirely kenku or entirely tengu.
- Preening one another is usually not thought of or seen as a sensual act. It relieves stress or negative emotions and also helps keep pin feathers in check. It's kind of like a nice massage, or a hug in a way. It's the simplest way to maintain some form of good impressions.
- Tengu's generally aren't very physically affectionate. It's more about words and how their said. The slightest inclination of body language, eye movement etc. They're usually harder to read. Vague. Alluring.
- Deep bonds for life. It isn't unheard of for tengu and kenku to die of heartbreak, could be over a lover, a friend or even family.
Reading others comes easy, especially emotions. These demons are very susceptible to their own emotions and in return they are very careful with them. As well with those of others, especially prey items.
- Other beings, such as dragons view preening with a wide array of opinions.
- Tengu's natural culinary ability is often over shadowed. Most anything is favorable depending on the demon but, tengu are born with a taste for human flesh and blood. As well as their fantastical cousins. Fairies are like popcorn.
- A fair few tengu dismiss this preference as much as they can, making it known that their settlement isn't safe for all per say. Their food usually has an easy, peaceful passing.
Some tengu live out the entire lifespan of other creatures, whether it be forced by contact or out of self interest. They invest themselves in this beings life, not souly for the food either.
- Kenku's don't really have such a preference, they'll eat anything. Usually dead stuff though.
- Cannibalism is taboo, if found out the guilty party will be exiled. It is believed killing them will bring just as much misfortune as their practices.
- Both Tengu and kenku have a strange love of collecting body parts, whether it be from their food, opponents or just finding dead animal skeletons. Bones, eyes, feathers and scales are some of the most popular items. Worldly possessions are less favorable, objective wise but still. If they knew the deceased personally, it make these items much more valuable.
Something about helping the decease be remembered or something, by knowing them they carry their memory. They have a fascination and appreciation for life and death. While not obsessive or mongers of such, they're are concerning cults etc that pop up.
- most of these bird demon frown on cults. As well as the demonization of death as it is naturally occuring.
- collecting the bones and feathers or personal belongings of their own is common. It helps with grieving and coping. They usually have these items on them at all times, turned into jewelry, knives etc. Widows/widowers usually don't re-pair. A tengu or kenku distancing itself from others is common.
- Skinning of their own kind is taboo, said to bring misfortune. Skinning and tanning hides themselves is eeeeeh. Buying furs etc is different.
- these creatures aren't inherently evil.
- their beaks are crucial to them, as they can puncture metal.
- they may have hidden teeth further back in their mouths, they don't really ingest stones so.
- Individual voices are remembers forever, no one sounds identical.
- An individual can be remembered forever. The smallest details easily recalled down to how someone used to carry themselves, they're speech patterns even what they smelled like. These demon birds are extremely intelligent, barely dulling with age.
it is both bad and good, in their eyes.
- often wrap their wings in a way that makes them appear to be part of their clothing.
- look like birds, but aren't birds.
- Clashes between demon bird flocks, though rare, are quite nasty. Winner takes all. Those of the losing side are either cast out if they refuse the new leadership, crippled or killed. Really depends on the individual leader.
- Flocks headed by a female usually consist of more males then females and vise versa.
- flocks usually settle in an area. with a few more nomadic members. However, there are roaming tengu flocks.
- Kenku tend to be relatively 'small', largest maybe reaching into 6ft.
- Tengu are usually more powerful.

The wind tells these birds a lot. "The wind is sour today" means something's up usually.
