As a child of Starwood taken away from home, Melan spent the majority of her life in a small town located in the Sunbeam Ruins. Originally from a collection of magic condensed to create life, her creation was interrupted by a passerby who took interest in such an event and interfered, causing Melan's condensed form to absorb the life out of the traveling light dragon and mix her elements between arcane and light. A friend of the passerby quickly took and brought her to their home, where she was raised with no knowledge of her origin, believing her to be their friend reincarnated.

The Skydancer always felt like she belonged somewhere else, dreaming of trees that would light up with stars in the night sky calling out to her. She was able to practice light magic, but had the eyes of an arcane dragon. Despite Melan asking her supposed parent about this, she would always be brushed off or even yelled at for her questions. However, she persisted, and one night they drunkenly gave her some answers - ones that caused Melan to flee from home in search of her birthplace. Once Melan found herself in the Starwood Strands, she knew she was home. Melan, normally calm and gentle in nature, couldn't help but feel overwhelming excitement for what she might find at her place of origin. Along the way, she had found a mage by the name of Asche out on a research excursion. Upon hearing Melan's story, he was happy to accompany her on her journey to her birthplace, so long as he was able to study it for any special properties. Throughout their journey across the Starwood Strands, Melan found herself growing an attraction to the young mage, though kept them down so as to not damage their friendship. |

| When Melan had found her birthplace - a cave surrounded by Starwood trees - her joy was quickly cut short as she encountered Artius, a fae of similar origin. Despite them being kin, Artius had wanted nothing to do with Melan due to her mixed elements and banished her from seeing him ever again. Depressed and disheartened, Melan grew to become ashamed of her creation. Asche, however, offered her comfort and a place in his clan where he knew she would be welcomed no matter what element she was. Taking those words to heart, she gratefully accepted his invitation. Though, she can't help but admit that she partially agreed so that she could get closer to him and possibly become his mate. |
