 ennui has fully embraced being a martyr for her poetry. she is seen as outlandish, profane, and ridiculous by the majority of her contemporaries, but also hailed as a visionary by a select few in exclusive artist circles. although she was born in vidarbha, she holds very little connection to her home or her younger half-brother, estienne. she has gone to great lengths to wipe her real name, satyajit jha, from any record, but many still know her origins. estienne would characterize her as the epitome of enfant terrible and publicly denounces her existence, but still often writes to ennui to convince her to return home and assume a more respectable life. ennui doesn't know or care if this is out of genuine concern or to preserve her brother's public image, but she's only more motivated to rebel. ennui's career began when she suddenly appeared at a public poetry reading in aspero, where she was immediately shunned due to her disruptive and critical regard of other poets. some despised her, some pitied her, and a handful were attracted to her eccentric ways and dark style. spleen especially admired her, as an equally ostracized local actor. though their relationship began professionally as ennui wrote him dramatic performance pieces, it became a whirlwind romance. they're now best known as a duo, for their work and their legendary parties - the greatest of which tend to go on past sunrise. chavannes became her patron and only other close friend. despite ennui's esoteric success and exterior good-humour, she is deeply lonely and dissatisfied with herself. she finds it difficult to confide in anyone, even spleen. ennui is the true thief of nefertari's most prized beads. she knows nothing of their vague cosmic power and used them as decorations in a costume eye patch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZuU0tMAV0M   by saern #143949
