She watched his many green eyes all widening at the tiny dragon's tale. It sounds unbelieveable, but the tiny one swears by its truth. A moment in time where every dragon saw a vision of a single fae. Anyone with whom they bartered, battled, or conversed seemingly replaced the vision, a seemingly featureless dragon, no patterns to be found on her body or wings, alone in an abandoned, inaccessible lair. All they knew of her was her name. Naomi Its ring oddly familiar as the skydancer speaks it aloud, unaware of their audience slithering through the dense undergrowth. After letting the story sink in for a moment, the veilspun starts back up, "Many who hear the story claim it to be myth, much like they thought we were. I thought it was too, to be frank, until I met that one. A fae called Venusong, just as unearthly as you'd imagine, and captivating. It's no exaggeration to say that reality itself seemed to bend around her. It's almost no wonder the few dragons that do know of them call them cursed, or Shade-incarnate..." The veilspun trails off, seeming deep in remorseful thought, starkly contrast from the upbeat attitude she held the entire time the gilded spiral had been trailing them. The skydancer seems to ponder for a moment before breaking the silence. "What will you do when you meet her again?" "I've been trying to figure that out for years. I still haven't found an answer. Nothing seems like it'd be enough." "How about giving her a home?" The cold sincerity behind the owl-dragon's words shocks the serpent almost as much as the veilspun. She barely stutters a "Wh-what?" before she's cut off again. "She has nowhere to call home. None of them do, if what you said about rumors spread about them is true. When we find her... Would you help me build a sanctuary?" Alula left the viridian labyrinth a couple days after she stumbled along the pair in the forest, flying southwest in search of the great libraries and labs of the starfall isles. If anywhere is to have more information on the glitchborne, it'd be there. She couldn't explain it, but she trusted the intent in the owl-dragon's words, earnest and unwavering. That skydancer would build a home for the children of Naomi, and Alula resolved to find any she could in need of that sanctuary. She gave a silent goodbye to the forest that'd been her home, and to the pair of dragons that had left long before, that she was sure to meet again. |
