1. Nest of Problems
Verivorst was the last out of his egg. His sisters both had their own issues. Vivi's egg was hardened and thick, unlike the usual slick and permeable plague eggs which are typical. It was unknown if the egg would ever hatch, or if the hatchling within would be viable. Vivi proved the stronger, and did eventually manage to break free of his egg. 
2. Early Life
Breaking out of his egg and not dying was the last real show of strength Vivi made, something which most dragons are allowed to take as a given by their mere existence. It's not that Vivi isn't strong. He is much stronger than most Spirals. He could without too much effort, bind the limbs of much larger dragons. He just doesn't care to. He doesn't really care to do much. He is a dragon with little ambition, always putting in the least amount of effort possible to accomplish a task. Some call him lazy, he thinks of himself as pragmatic and saving his energy. He is just the opposite of most spirals, who on a whole tend to be quite high energy engines who don't stop doing anything... something... everything... all the time. This lethargy was a cause of great concern for many in the dragons, who saw it as a sign of weakness. Quite a few picked fights with him because they thought it would be easy, and because he was a little spoiled by his parent's station. It would have been nice to take him down a peg. What they learned is that Vivi is quite resistant to damage, his skinless appearance belies a highly resistant set of interlocking membranes which are difficult to cut or pierce. Below that layers of strong muscle, which can produce tremendous crushing force. When forced to fight Vivi is slow-moving, and rarely attacks outright, instead waiting for his unwary opponent to make a mistake and end up trapped in his coils. But Vivi doesn't particularly like to fight. He does enjoy good company though, and long-winded chats, and a comfortable place to rest. He has a very good mind for gossip, and can easily weed out worthless unsubstantiated chatter for gleaming jewels of dramatic truth. He also likes good food. Such was his passion for it, that he briefly entertained the thought of training as a chef. But... that would require quite a bit of effort, wouldn't it?
3. Next Chapter
Unfortunately for Vivi, staying with his birthclan forever wasn't really in the cards, though he certainly would have preferred it that way. Very few children of the clan stay, and eventually he would have to work for his own rank within the clan, if he wanted to maintain his life there. This seemed a challenging notion, so he thought it might be better to do as all the others did, and depart to make it own way in life. Now that he has gone from his birthclan, what manner of home has he found? Was the journey hard, or has he continued to coast easily and lazily through life? |
