she | her ☆ Paranormal Containment ☆ Uh-oh, looks like this occult expert wandered a little too far from her home lair (Hyzenthlaay, 452562), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, we'd really appreciate it if you could instead just send her off in the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, she can be sent to her original home via the Crossroads, or to this rest hub. You can also adopt her permanently if you don’t want her leaving your lair - just contact Hyzenthlaay and let her know (it’s good for her notes)! Many people have worked very hard on this traveling dragon, and exalting her would be an absolute shame. Please don’t do it! |

Leif may not be gifted in the ways of social interaction, but she more than makes up for those shortcomings with her expansive knowledge of the occult. When a clan messes around with magic as much as the denizens of Mavenlark tend to do, the dead get disrespected in any number of ways. It's Leif's job to discover, apprehend, and study any entities that may manifest as a result. Using her own special blend of magic, Leif can contain most spirits within specially-blessed (or cursed, depending on one's perspective) boxes which she keeps in meticulously-straight rows on shelves in her den. If dragons weren't already nervous around her, a social visit to her den ensures they won't return.
Having spent so much time around the undead, Leif struggles to understand the living, and her callousness on topics such as gore, death, and blood do not win her any friends. It's a pity because beneath her tough veneer is a loyal friend and a great tea-brewer.
Lately, Leif has taken to traveling, bartering out her ghost-catching services in exchange for social tutelage.

Traveling through the Shifting Expanse, Leif came upon AlligatorClan... and discovered that most of the clan was very interested in technology and did not believe in occult magic. In fact, they only wanted to discuss an invention they'd come up with, something simply called the box. It was a pyramid-shaped object originally designed for communicating with the clan's familiars, and they insisted on building one for her because they'd never made a box for a Light Flight dragon before. It was nothing like her own carefully-crafted containment boxes, but she thanked them politely and continued her journey. Right: Leif's box |

Lief did not have any encounters of note until she came upon AlligatorClan again, this time in the Sea of a Thousand Currents: they had given their allegiance to the Tidelord.
Lief visited a small clan in the Shifting Expanse, where she attempted to chat with the younger members - they were happy to share stories with her about previous travelers - but she struggled. With no occult presence to occupy her attention, she moved on.
Lief tried to be a good guest, she really did. But there was something about the Sunbeam Lanternhouse that teased at her occult senses. It wasn't something that she could easily pin down, and it made her inquiries... perhaps more direct than was strictly polite.
It was so frustrating! The answers she received were evasive and vague. She was assured that nothing was wrong.
So she decided to poke around.
She finally found her way beneath the hill, through the gloomy library, to the center of the occult disturbance: an open-air garden and graveyard sunken in the earth, filled with unquiet spirits.
It was a containment nightmare. Even putting aside the fact that she wasn't completely sure all of the spirits actually were - some felt distinctly like elemental energy - she didn't have enough of her boxes on hand to capture them all.
Before she could come up with a plan of attack, however, she was apprehended herself. Despite the shadows swathing the garden, Seanan discovered her lurking and seemed to guess her intentions. He very firmly escorted her from the site, explaining that any occult interference would likely result in unintended consequences. He also seemed to guess that she would not take his word for it; when they reached the main living areas of the Lanternhouse, he called for The Twins to escort her from the clan's territory.
