Learn more about the Fates subspecies HERE. Surrounded by at least 100 other Pearlcatcher Fates, Embra waited in anticipation. This was it. The moment she had been training for. She would soon be an Assistant to an Archivist or Author. She held her pearl close to her chest, as they had all been instructed to do, and dared a quick scan of the room. The stained glass windows of each higher up's emblem beamed a myriad of colors into the ceremony hall, some rays even playing off of the would-be Assistants' coveted pearls. She and her fellow hopefuls waited in a perfect line, wing to wing, all bewildered by the dazzling splendor of the Cathedral. They filled the hall with nervous conversation in semi-hushed tones. Everyone pointing out the window bearing the crest of their favorite higher up. Embra gazed up at the imposing crests of the master Fates. Which one would choose her? What if she was overlooked? Fear pooled in her stomach at the thought of being left standing here, unworthy and unwanted... A sudden wave of silence washed over them as the Archivists made their way into the room. They came in from the side, at the front of the ceremony hall where a stage had been set. Their bodies bathed in the light of their coat-of-arms. In the very center; Zephre himself. The head Archivist. An Imperial, no less! What a lofty being...able to beat such odds... Without a word, each higher Fate looked down at the Assistant they had chosen, and Zephre's veiled face turned to Embra, smiling ever so slightly. |

Embra works her claws to the bone for her Archivist Zephre, and she takes great pride in doing so. There are some Fates who scoff at her Archivist master for being an Imperial, but she knows that they are just threatened by his glory. Despite her very high standing in the eyes of many Assistant Fates, Embra is relatively humble, due in no small part to the humility of her Archivist. She can, however, be insanely protective of Zephre's honor, and hates to hear others question his credentials on the basis of his breed. She adores her Archivist with every fiber of her being, and lives to listen to his drawn out musings. She can be a bit uptight at times, and even explode into a tirade of fury when her Zephre isn't given the respect he deserves. She does let herself ease up when having tea with her Archvist, though. There the two will have long philosophical discussions about current events, sometimes talking for days on end about whatever comes to their minds. She lives for Zephre's companionship, and sometimes cannot believe that she was so lucky to not only be the Assistant of someone so high up, but also someone so kind. Apart from Zephre, Embra has to force herself to take breaks from scrying for her master in order to take up other hobbies. He says it's best to take time for herself, too. Some past times she has tried include reading, mentoring Assistant hopefuls, and even writing some Characters herself. She's not super great at the latter, though...they all come out like Zephre... |
