Biography
Disclaimer: this dragon is probably "cringe" and I am 100% on board with that.. I don't care, I'm having fun and I like her character a lot ^^ Cringe culture is dead, long live unabashed joy and enthusiasm! C:

Menace threw up after the first killing. She recalls this almost fondly as she sits in a secluded clearing, sharpening her knife against the jagged rock clutched between her claws. It had taken her almost an hour of pacing around the incapacitated dragon before she worked up the nerve to finish the job, shutting her eyes against the pleading gaze of the dragon on the ground. After she had done it, she stumbled away with her ears ringing, and expelled the contents of her stomach onto a patch of flowers. She threw up after the second one, and the third one, and the next ten killings after that. She remembers the victory that had swam through her veins when she was finally able to keep the bile down, and she only resisted bragging about it because she knew that taking pride in your killing skills was completely inappropriate. That didn’t stop her from being proud of it, of course. The sound of the knife being sharpened grates against her skull and she sets it down, allowing herself a rare moment of peace before she’ll have to get to work again and repeat the uncomfortably familiar process of watching the life drain from someone’s body. Part of her is afraid that she’ll miss the feeling when she’s finally settled her debt. Menace reminds herself once more that she can’t afford to miss the feeling - once she’s been released from her contract, she plans on returning to civilization as a new dragon. She plans on making friends, plans on being able to run freely without suspicion, plans on finding a way to absolve herself of all guilt. Maybe she’ll donate food to hungry dragons. The thought is both freeing and confining, and she doesn’t let herself think about her future for too long. Admitting her desire to be a functioning member of society may be the first step to recovery, but she fears taking that first step. What if she trips? She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, clearing the concept out of her head. Right now, she doesn’t need anything other than her knife. She doesn’t need friends, doesn’t need family, and most certainly doesn’t need any interaction other than her visits to the Academy to find out her next target. She stands up, dusts off her cloak, and begins to walk. A safe dragon is one on the move. Menace wonders if she’ll ever be safe again. The incredible lore above was written by AquaPaladin, #354917 |
