As the name of their profession suggests, Xanna and Ash work with light itself: capturing it, manipulating it, fixing it in tangible form. They make lanterns, yes, and glowing stones, but also explosives and reservoirs of great magical power -- for what can be stronger than sunlight, the force which ultimately feeds all Sornieth? They make weapons to smite the undead and unholy, and sometimes they make unholy things themselves. They also make children, and teach them their craft.

Glass is often central to Lightsmithing, and it's the area where Epiphron chose to specialize. He uses his training to enchant the glass and iron of the greenhouses his builds so that every plant that grows within -- every plant that feeds on the sunlight passing through the panels -- grows not only more robustly but contains new nutrients that make it healthier to eat. Some of his plants even function as medicine, curing disease or boosting a dragon's immune system.
