Chiaki is the only son of a couple running an inn. He lived in the village where Haruka was born and both children became friends. He had a cat named Tora and often carried him around, claiming that the cat will grow up to be a tiger. He loved eating a lot and sportive activities.
Since he was often around grown-ups that visited the inn he was a confident and boisterous child. In contrary to Haruka he was not afraid to talk to strangers and communicated his thoughts clearly. Both children sometimes had a quarry because of his loud character, but they always reconciled afterwards.
When Haruka left the village, Chiaki gave her the headband she continued to wear from then on. His parents left the village to cope with the loss of their friends and opened an inn in another.

When he grew older Chiaki took over more and more responsibilities in his parent's inn. His cat grew fat and mostly stayed inside the inn as well.
He started a relationship with a girl he loves, but when he saw Haruka again it was clear to see that she still was very important to him. Although Chiaki wanted to make her stay he did not stop her from leaving again, somewhat regretting it afterwards.

Deidara reminded Haruka a lot of Chiaki.
