Ren is the younger brother of Sodoki and son of the Kazuka-clan chief, born in the Land of Fire. During the war his village was destroyed and his father murdered, leaving his older and blind brother in charge for the remaining clan members. Both brothers try to rebuild their clan ever since.
To rebuild their clan, they needed especially money, and while his brother and some clan members stayed in the Land of Fire, selling their swords as mercenaries, the less battle-tested Ren left the country. In Amegakure a shinobi left a young orphan in his custody who did not left his side anymore. Hotaru and Ren began to share a father-son-like bond and Ren used an empty house to build a home for orphans. He cared for the children and taught them skills that would help them survive on their own. However, human traffickers blackmailed the Kazuka-clan and urged Ren to sell children to them whenever they asked to. Ren did his best to hide this fact in front of the children, telling them their comrades simply ran away whenever one was missing. Character: ❖ - open-minded - ❖ ❖ - bonhomous - ❖ ❖ - protective - ❖ ❖ - paternal - ❖ Ren found Haruka after her parents were murdered and took her in as well. He ordered Hotaru to look after the silent girl, but he also took a liking in her and tried to help her cope with her past and the blame. He even catches a dog from the street and gifts it to her, so she would not feel alone anymore. Not long after Ren is forced to give his Hotaru to the human traffickers and is devastated in the next days. Haruka notices the change in his character and begins to ask questions about Hotaru's disappearance. One night she overhears Ren with the human traffickers and loses her temper, killing the bandits in the process. Ren however is spared by her. He is disappeared the morning after and spends the next years tracking down Hotaru. |
