Viola was only a hatchling when she got separated from her clan. She is a curious dragon by nature, and, deciding on her own to accompany her clan on a hunting trip, wandered away from them. It took her a long time to even notice her clan was no longer beside her. She felt very afraid in that moment, and yelled to them for help. She was too far away, no one could hear her. She yelled and searched all day, until her throat was sore and she could no longer stand. As night fell, Viola rested on her pearl, and slept a restless sleep.

Viola woke the next morning to the sight of ocean, far as the eye could see.

The little pearlcatcher squeaked, scrambling to her feet. The ground beneath her claws was slick, her legs slipping and sliding, flying out from under her until she dug her tiny claws in. Ice- that's what she was standing on- one of the many fracturing along the coast of Arcane land. It must have broken off while she was asleep.

If she thought she was lost before, it didn't compare. Water swallowed her little iceberg up, lapping gently against the sides. She sat down hard, squeaking again as the motion caused her perch to rock.

She wasn't sure how much time passed. Black rolling clouds blotted out the sky above her- black as night and so different than the stormclouds of her home. Fish swam around her iceberg. She managed to flip one up onto the iceberg, but then the smell and sliminess killed her appetite and she tipped it back into the ocean. She entertained the idea of flying, but abandoned it immediately afterward. Her wings were too small, her muscles too underdeveloped to do more than flap weakly.

It was then that she heard a voice.

"Ho down there!"

Something massive split the sky. Viola squinted against the sudden sunlight rending the black clouds, blinking up at the shadowy figure. It was an imperial dragon, striped dark red and blue, with a brimmed hat and wing tatters.

"Hey there, kiddo!" she said. "Where are you off to?"

Viola explained her situation, relieved now to have someone with her. The imperial hummed, bright eyes glinting as she listened. "Well, it seems you're in a predicament," she said. "You're in the Flamecaller's waters now, kiddo. The nearest Arcane coasts are several leagues west of here." She frowned. "I'm on duty with my clan right now, otherwise I'd take you back myself." Her face brightened. "But I am headed up to the mainland for supplies. If you want to tag along, I can make sure you find someone who'll take you back to your family."

Anything was better than the iceberg. Viola thanked the imperial, who let her climb onto her back for the flight. It was an hour or so's journey to the mainland from here, the imperial explained. She should hold on tight.

The imperial let her off at her new destination. It was a wide plateu, with lots of tall grass and bamboo all over. This place wouldn't do!

So then back onto the iceberg she went..

While it had been years since her first journey on the iceberg, Viola still had not reached her goal of returning home. Although she refused to give up, she now wondered what would happen even if she was successful. Would her family even recognize the dragon she was now? She wasn't a hatchling anymore- quite the opposite in fact, as along the way she even had children of her own. But here, at this border between Plague and Arcane, she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. Regardless of whether she found her home Clan or not, she was so close to her home element! While it may be just a step in her journey, it was a step in the right direction nonetheless.

Taking a deep breath, Viola stepped back into Arcane territories.

The land seemed to radiate with a familiar power. Overjoyed, Viola leapt into the air soaring over crystals and affected flora. Before she knew it, the sky had darkened and a swath of brilliant stars shimmered far above her. The amethyst pearlcatcher carefully lowered herself into the trees, feeling nervous about her surroundings. Twigs and leaves crackled underfoot, while small crystals gave off an eerie glow. It was silent. Silent enough she could only hear her own breathing. She paused for a moment and held her breath. Fear trickled down her spine as the sound continued, from right behind her. Mustering all the courage she had left, Viola whirled around and charged full speed at the sound.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

"What the- who-"

"Ohhh you're not my sister." The strange dragon coiled neatly beside the pearlcatcher and blew a small plume of fire onto a stick.

"Your- what, I'm sorry who are you?" Viola was now very surprised and confused, as to why there was a young spiral wandering around the forest.

"Hi, I'm Kitaina. I was just about to go home, and I thought you were my sister. But you're a lot bigger than my sister, hehe. Are you hungry?"

"You said you were going home? Do mind if I join you?"

"If you want, I don't think anyone there will be upset. There will be food. Lots of food. I can show you!" The spiral swirled into the air.

"Thank you. My name is Viola by the way."

Kitaina was right, there was a lot of food that night. And the nights following that one. Viola learned that it was a small clan, and the dragons that lived there were kind and courteous, or at least mostly polite. But this place wasn't home, and so she decided to leave, in search of her true clan.

Wandering the Crystalpine Reaches in search of her home, Viola found a small, bustling city with a gorgeous galaxy-patterned castle straight in the center. a few different dragons were wandering the area, and she was curious about the space-themed city she found herself in.

Spotting a sign with a full moon, Viola found a quaint looking inn called "The Moonlight Inn." A kind-looking Obelisk dragon came out of the inn, and smiled sweetly.

"You must not be from around here, are you, darlin'?" She asked with a sweet tone.

"No, I'm not. how did you know?" Viola replied, tilting her head.

"Ahh, Constellation Town is just starting out, so i know just about everyone here. Since i don't recognize you, Figured you must be new. My name's Brier, by the way. What's yours?"

"I'm Viola. It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Sugar. You need a place to stay? I run the inn here, i could let you have a room." The Obelisk gestured to the building behind them as she spoke.

"That sounds nice, Thank you." Viola said, smiling.

Later that day, Viola decided to chat with Brier some.

"So.. What inspired you to run the inn?" She asked curiously.

"Well, my brother Newt is a traveler just like yourself. Figured I'd help adventurers like him find a comfortable place to stay on their own adventures." Briar explained, smiling warmly.

"That's very sweet of you." Viola replied.

The two dragons would continue to chat for a while, Sharing stories and having a good time. During her stay, Viola met other dragons as well, all of which were kind and hospitable. but deep down Viola knew this wasn't home, so after a while she decided to continue her search.

jISYT8s.png

Viola arrived at a clan she was not sure if she would enjoy, the plague realm was never her favorite place to be as the air was thick and the smells were normally quite nasty but she changed her mind when she met the inhabitents. She met many dragons whom she found to be quite nice to talk to and walked though a garden that looks as if it was plucked from the nature realm and placed in waste of the plague realm. On her second day she met Solstace and the two became fast friends, maybe its the fact that Solstace is mature yet fun or maybe its her caring nature but Viola knew they would be friends for a long time if not forever. Before she set off on her travels She was given a painting of her and her new friend that one of the local dragons drew as he saw them always sitting in the gardens and chatting.
She packed her new painting into her bag and with a hug and a slightly tearful goodbye she was off on a new adventure.

After travelling for quite some ways, Viola arrived at a clan on the Tsunami Flats. She didn't know quite what to expect, but before long she was welcomed into the rambunctious clan that had many hatchlings and dragons running about and playing with each other.

One of the senior members of the clan offered to train Viola at their coliseum and she accepted, gaining new skills as she fought side by side with the younger members of the clan.

There were new hatchlings born while she was there, and Viola enjoyed telling them stories and sitting around the campfire with them, listening to the tales of the Aether dragons and their travels across the stars.

Being part of this large family was a wild, fun time for Viola, and she even created a nest with one of the clan members. Eventually, though, it was time for her to return to being a traveller. After a goodbye with her family and promises to tell each others stories and never forget them, she was off on her next adventure!

jISYT8s.png

She began to hear whispers--rumors of strange dragons carried across the wind as she walked along the roads, conversing with other travellers. Myths circled about, saying that the Dark Oaks could peer into the future; some could even gaze into the past. Viola was unsure of how reliable these stories were, but she did understand one thing: she still didn't know where her clan was. Maybe this strange family of magically inclined dragons would extend some help to her.

Viola made her way towards the nature domain and, she hoped, the family she had heard of. The Gladeshadow Province was easily located, known for their cordial manners and welcoming attitude toward travellers, and Viola found a lovely inn to rest in. She spoke with the keeper, asking if the Dark Oak rumors held any ground and if she knew where to find them.

"Well, yes, they exist," said the innkeeper thoughtfully. "I don't really know any personally, but I heard that one is nearby, and that she's quite amiable to friends and strangers alike."

Viola thanked her and started down the road, looking for the dragon the keeper had described.

Before she had gone very far though, a mysterious dragon approached her first. "Wait, Viola," she called softly, and Viola turned around in surprise upon hearing her name.
