After the loss of his father, and the immediate loss of his mother, Katska at age 16, was taken to a boy's home where he had soon aged out of the system and took on the world on his own as a dragon-themed vigilante dubbed 'Serpena', a Kamahki translated word for 'dragon'. Katska would go out on his own and fight the crime-ridden streets to ensure the protection of the citizens of High Towers. The metropolis was known for its many prejudices, however, as some beings known as Aniscelests are demonized for being... well, demonic in some fashion, and hybrids walked a thin line as the human personality would often reflect the typical behaviors seen in the dragon side of the same coin.

Despite this, Katska fought for true equality in the races and never saw the city people for what they were, but rather who they are, and would often risk his life protecting those who there victimized and demonized by those who never bothered to look beneath the surface. Katska was seen as a patriot by some of the people he'd saved, but also seen as a threat.

Katska is incredibly secretive and enigmatic 'on the job'. While on the job he either doesn't speak at all, or changes his voice entirely with the use of a small device built into his helmet. However, with the physical abuse he usually sustains during fights, he's never found the device in his helmet very reliable and often remains silent. When he met his wife, Atsuki, she very quickly learned that Katska is incredibly stubborn and rarely gives himself time to heal from the last fight. His behavior was found to be self-destructive and she discovered that he didn't care much for himself at all, such had been revealed after the loss of a close friend of his and the painful realization that anyone he got close to dies or betrays him. In an outburst fueled by grief, frustration and self-loathing, he'd pushed her away, refusing to let her get hurt as well.

Katska has faced two great obstacles, one of which being a powerful telekinetic and his father's murderer by the name of Tjum Tmir, nicknamed 'Red Hands', whose sole motive was to show the people of High Towers that superpowered heroes were even more dangerous than the superpowered villains that plagued the city. In killing Katska's friend, Ricky, he showed that even their 'level-headed, silent hero' was somewhat emotionally unstable and could potentially cause harm. However, this display and demonstration backfired as Tjum Tmir had admitted to the murder of one of Katska's closest friends, and the fact that Katska had gotten angry was completely justifiable and event though he had an outburst of rage, he never hurt anyone. In this event, Katska's identity had been revealed to everyone.

The police had a warrant out for Tjum Tmir, and their chief at the time had expressed to him that because of the several deaths Tjum Tmir had been responsible for, the police expressed to Katska that Tjum Tmir was wanted dead or alive and if Katska had dealt with him, he'd be doing them a favor and would even be rewarded. After being baited to come out of 'hiding', Katska finally came face-to-face and fought Tmir. The battle was difficult, and while gravely injured, Katska was finally able to take down Tjum Tmir with only the loss of an eye.

Katska and Atsuki had a long talk about his actions during his grief, and apologized profusely for trying to push her away. But Atsuki promised him that she understood why he did it and assured him that she would always be there to make sure he takes care of himself. They married and had a son named Curtis Muturo Kuroki, named after both of their fathers. Not long after, Katska would have to overcome the next great obstacle, Talon.
