"Funnel's Canyon Miner"

B I O G R A P H Y

Curtis Kuroki is stubborn, short-tempered and very protective of the ones he cares about. He looked up to his father, Katska, admiring everything he had done to protect his city. Wishing to do the same in his childhood, Curtis followed directly in his father's footsteps and became a vigilate- despite his father's protests. Curtis confidently boasted that he could handle any dangers thrown his way, seeming to completely forget Katka's scars and missing eye.

Reality came and hit Curtis hard when pursuing a bird-like foe dubbed 'Talon'. At age 15, Curtis hunted down Talon, determined to take him down before the police and their chief could, as though he were challenged to a race. However, then the falconesque criminal struggled to shake off the pesky headstrong teenager, he stopped in his flight path and caught Curtis first. His talons, kept untrimmed and sharpened to allow Talon to live up to the name, threatened Curtis' life. One wrong move and it was over. Everything went dark as he fell from 50 stories in the air.

Curtis was lucky to survive the encounter. Waking up with a fresh set of scars on his face and neck under the stern gaze of his terrified and disappointed father. He was told that not only was he grounded, but he was going to be sent to the Sanctuary a few hundred miles away- the sanctuary he once lived in. Since the decision was made without Curtis' knowledge, he was furious. However flashbacks of the incident left him unable to argue. When his mother arrived, he hoped that maybe she could change Katska's mind, but Atsuki hesitantly agreed. As soon as Curtis was able to leave the hospital, he was taken to the Heart of Avoncor Sanctuary. There, he would meet Thomas and Oliver, two of his lifelong friends.

B I O G R A P H Y

Many years later, after his father losing his life tragically to the very same Talon that scarred Curtis' face and neck, and after two very unpleasant breakups in which one had ended violently, his mother had fallen very ill. She had been diagnosed with a genetic disease that was incurable and terminal. After she had passed away, Curtis had decided to leave the city he grew up in and move to a village in the north.

The moving day had arrived- Curtis was packing the rest of his family home which was to be turned over to a realtor who was contracted to sell it fully furnished. Any valuables that he couldn't carry with him was shipped out to Funnel's Village and kept at a storage facility until he could come and claim it. As he was packing away his clothes and a pair of urns, Curtis found an egg on his bed that wasn't there a second ago.

With the egg and a very long ride to Funnel's Village, Curtis had set down roots in his new home with his hatchling, Darius. Curtis thought that the rest of his life would have been spent alone with Darius in the canyon, until an unexpected reunion with two old friends, Oliver and Thomas, and encounter with a demon in which he rescues a victim to sacrifice and his brother, Berkley and Pearl.
