A mercenary who keeps a low profile at the Seven Spades. Akuma is a blunt dragon, whose abrasive personality and brutally honest comments put even other patrons of the Spades off of talking to her. Other mercs who frequent the bar keep one eye on her, as her years in the business have given her quite a reputation. Akuma formerly worked with the Wild Hunt, a mercenary group based in the Southern Icefield. Though not one of its leading members, Akuma still enjoyed a high rank within the organization. She often competed with Stormfast, and the two clashed loudly whenever they were up for the same job. Akuma's final job with the Wild Hunt came during the Magmablood Rebellion, where she was hired by Fire nobles to help quell the revolution. While traveling to the center of the conflict from her previous job in the Windswept Plateau, she stopped at the Magma Sanctum, where she found Stormfast. After somewhat accidentally exposing her old rival to the mages of the Sanctum as a mercenary, she put the matter behind her and went to fight for old-money families worried about the safety of their investments. During the fighting, she was severely burned by a rebel mage, leading to her being dismissed from the job and taking up her now signature armet. After being dismissed, Akuma decided she needed a break from fighting. She drifted east to Traveler's Rest, which was as good a place as any to lay low and recover from her injuries. She was hired by Chime to be a bouncer for their bar due to their shared history with the Wild Hunt, but her job is really just a way to make money, since Chime is more than capable of breaking up fights themself. She mostly just hangs around, drinking and playing cards with Nikandros. |
