"thunder" | First Child | Diety of Mercury
"thunder" | First Child | Diety of Mercury
On the first day of the Arcanist's Awakening, the world stood still.
Since magic had been erased from the world, barren soil stretched out as far as the eye could see. Nothing grew, dragons starved and cried out for mercy under Hai's scorching brilliance. The Arcanist heard them and wanted to turn his nose up. They had betrayed his kindness once and in retaliation lost their magic, but his heart still aches for his pitiful creations.
Soon, he could bear it no more and descended from the heavens. His powerful wings and claws thrust a billowing cloud of dust into the sky. Hai retreated behind it and the mass turned dark gray. A sound like a growl rumbled within it and scared the dragons below. They cowered before the Arcanist and watched in terror as he raised his head to the sky and roared a command. Obeying, the storm spat out a flash of light which struck the ground at his feet. It fizzled and popped while thin brown lines wrapped around, growing the structure taller and thicker. The lines merged and became a coating of bark. The Arcanist now stood behind the first tree. Collecting the remaining dust, he created a Deity called Raijin. He gave this new entity a staff and familiar fashioned from the tree's branches before sending him into the sky. Raijin disappeared into the swirling mass and for the first time in years, it rained. There were wails of celebration as plants sprung up from the ground: grass, and flowers, and fruit-bearing trees. The dragons also felt a familiar thrum of power. The Arcanist had given them their power back, but with a warning. Would they ever trespass against him or the deities made from him, they would once again he powerless.
Raijin is considered one of the most feared deities in the line-up. This is not because he is particularly violent but because he is the apple of the Arcanist's eye. Nobody dares take his name in vain and risk losing their magic. He is able to control weather and judges the souls brought to the Heavens by Corvus. Farmers often hold festivals for him to ask for a bountiful harvest.
- actually really chill?
- typical oldest sibling; gave up years ago but is still pressured to be the role model to the rest
- butts heads with Hai a ton since they are the foils of each other
- can and will bonk you with his stick
- has some history with Paladin

Picking by who has the darkest colors and spikiest clothes is too easy. Raijin seems peak "evil/scariest looking dragon, but actually not that mean." I did skim his lore, seems like a cool guy, I def would not trust him though. Or any deity for that matter. Never know what these guys will decide to do on their own little whims.
Extra note: Why does he look like a sci-fi fantasy villain now that I think about it. Is it his robot-esque vibe? Idk
