Kyo the Warrior and Guard

I. When he and his sister were young, Kyo's parents decided to join the Tidelord. Though Kyo misses his parents, he knew it was up to him to do his duty and serve Empress Aislinn loyally, even at the cost of his own life.

Kyo became a full-fledged warrior at a younger age at most others. The speed at which he completed his training impressed even Abbas, who chose him for his talon-picked guard of elite warriors who would protect the Empress.

Kyo and Mei grew as some of the best warriors in the clan. They were so great, that Mahmut himself wanted to recruit them into his own squadron, yet Abbas refused to give them up. Kyo and Mei, as brother and sister, would always compete in friendly competitions against each other to make themselves better warriors.

As he aged, Kyo was still a very handsome young dragon. He was beloved by the clan and dragonesses throughout it. He was loved so much, that even Aislinn would ask if he had his eyes on any dragoness. Kyo always responded with "my love and loyalty to you is all I need, my Empress". And for a while, this rang true. He never pursued a relationship with any dragoness, and stayed loyal to his Empress for years.

II. But all that changed.

Diyar Llarsa was the nephew of Aislinn and had recently joined the clan. Diyar quickly became a rising star in the clan and earned the validation of several other dragons. Like Kyo, he was handsome, smart and a strong loyal warrior to Aislinn. He was a dragon also picked for Abbas's elite force. Before all this, however, Diyar had been saddened by the loss of his mate Yvette after the two parted ways. Kyo first met Diyar when he was yelling at the Pearlcatcher to get a grip if he wanted to serve Aislinn well. Diyar took the advice to heart and grew to be a strong warrior chosen for Abbas's force.

Even if he was an upstart, Kyo found himself captivated and inspired by the Pearlcatcher. Though Kyo often pretended to be indifferent towards him, the truth was that he truly respected and admired Diyar. Though they somewhat got together very well, they both vied for the approval of Aislinn and so they started a friendly competition between the two. They competed on everything: who could chase away the most rogue beastclans, who could swim the fastest, who could fly the highest, who could stay awake longer and of course, who could get the most dragonesses.

III. It wasn't until a patrol to Redrock Cove that the two finally realized many things about themselves.

The patrol to Redrock Cove was originally for scouting a new supply route to their allied clan of Kaskaden. It was there where Kyo was attacked by a Waveswell Sorcerer who had been trying to unravel one of the Tidelord's prophecies. Kyo tried to fight the Maren off, but found that he was completely unprepared for the challenge. Luckily, Diyar heard his screams and came to his rescue.

Kyo graciously thanked Diyar, stating that he was an idiot for trying to take on such a warrior by himself. Diyar told him it was no problem, and it was there that the Pearlcatcher finally confessed his love. Kyo was caught unawares, but replied by saying that he had felt the same about Diyar for quite a while. They shared a kiss, before traveling back to the Empire with their talons and hearts entwined. Though most of the clan was surprised by their courtship, it was revealed that Aislinn had known about it for some time and accepted the newly betrothed with open talons.
