Biography

Whistler “Thorn” Indigo-Rivers

Male // He/Him // Demisexual
- - - - - W H I S T L E R ,- S E E K E R

Furry Icewarden Puppet - - - ▢ Personality and Role
Whistler is jumpy and soft-spoken, just about as quiet as the rest of the Ace trio but not nearly as confident in his abilities. He has an obsession with being great despite how low self-esteem, which is why he always tries his hardest to be a worthy Seeker. However, due to his constant exposure to the unknown and lack of proficient ability to get away unscathed, he has started to become paranoid. What if he's infected with the Shade? His new abilities reek only of Shadow, but what if there is something more sinister that lay behind his thorn-covered horns and newfound power-that-he-will-not-think-about? The fact that Demi is apparently stalking him doesn't help either. While before he was only a bit over wary, Whistler has deteriorated into being completely paranoid almost all of the time. He can never be sure whether it's just him overreacting, or an actual physical effect of the toll that the Shadows(?) have taken on his body.
Druidic Crown - - - - ▢ History
Whistler, like Nonsense and Anastasia, was born a Seeker. Unlike his similarly-colored compatriots, it was a fate he never wanted. Whistler was forced out of his home despite his pleading protests, and subjected to the fate of wandering Sornieth alone. No other Gaoler would accompany him, finding him weak and dead weight. After many days of tremulous travel, Whistler somehow ended up in the Tangled Wood. With so many hiding places for unsatisfactory beings, it's no surprise that Whistler encounter more dangerous things than he would have preferred to. Although able to fight his many attackers off, Whistler would often get caught in Shadow goop when attempting to flee, or even rest. It was after this continued exposure that he began to change. He began to grow new horns, and his old ones began to change. They grew tougher, but skinnier. Sharp thorns sprouted from them, making them even deadlier. But that was not the most horrifying modification. While being chased by something he was too slow to escape, Whistler made a terrifying discovery. With his new power, previously unknown until that moment, of summoning Shadow goop, he could vanish into the ground if it was weak enough. Mud and loose dirt shifted for him to sink into. Whistler could disappear, entirely, and remain underground for as long as it took the creature to abandon its pursuit of him. Understandably, this freaked him out. Such an ability was unheard of to the Gaoler, and he feared that it might be due to the influence of the Shade that he had not noticed yet. Whistler began to run, and in such a shocked and panicked state, he managed to get himself stuck in a lake of goop. Though he struggled, he did not use his newfound power, for he was too panicked to do so. Whistler would have sank and died, drowned in Shadow, had it not been for Anastasia. The more experienced Seeker had been traversing the land, and stumbled upon Whistler in his time of need. Luckily, she was able to rescue him, and with the help of her mate Nonsense, Whistler recovered fully from the accident. Well, physically. The trauma and shock of the discovery would never leave him. Anastasia and Nonsense recognized his weakness, and asked Whistler to join them. Of course, he agreed. From then on, Whistler has never strayed far from his companions. Only when doing his job with Rosemary does he leave them for long. Whistler knows that he owes his life to his friends, and wants to become better at his work to repay the favor. But with his powers becoming more pronounced and others beginning to notice his oddities, Whistler wonders if he will remain in the Caravan for long.
Vista: Something Swarming - - - - ▢ Name
The rest of his name, although appearing to be lazily crafted, also holds significance. His given name Current is reminiscent of his Lightning heritage, and his ability to channel the electricity which runs through his veins. Although, this usually leads to his fur sticking up. Current is not too fond of the minuscule bolts which fly from each spike of fur or golden shard that protrudes from his skin. His surname is reminiscent of his bond with Duelist. Both of their last names have actually been combined into one, Current shedding his previous family name “Goldenblood” to truly become one with his beloved. As it is in typical Gaoler tradition, the last names of both Gaolers are merged together upon the pair officially becoming mates.

▢ Trivia
  • Rosemary is the only other Seeker besides the rest of the Ace trio that Whistler is comfortable around. Which isn't really saying much, seeing as the only other Seeker is Peace and he's a rather scary grump. But, Whistler considers himself to be on good terms with Rosemary, despite hardly ever talking to her. She tolerates him, at the very least.
  • Whistler is wary of Demi. Although he can't be sure, he has a sneaking suspicion that Demi thinks he's some sort of undercover Shade-Touched Horrorbeast. Whistler often finds himself looking over his shoulder, though has been unable to catch anything more than a glimpse of what he think might be Demi stalking him... yet. Those unsettling icy coffins Demi always carries around him aren't really helping Whistler's paranoia either.
  • Nonsense, Anastasia, and Whistler are known as the Ace trio.
