Caina was born by the sea, and has always been more comfortable in the water than outside of it. So when she found herself in the desert of the Shifting Expanse after being blown off course by a massive storm, she was initially distraught. She found a patch of shade and curled up in it, not knowing where to go or what to do. That patch of shade is where Kestrel found her, and convinced Kaina to follow her home.

Caina's wings were severely injured in the storm, and when she first limped into the camp behind Kestrel, she was heartbroken at the idea of having to stay in the Shifting Expanse. Although she was grateful to be rescued from the harsh desert, Caina didn't think she could be happy living in the dry wasteland. That is, until she met Iris and Nishati. The soft-spoken mirror was awestruck by the garden around the Den, and the plethora of life in it.

With her wings injured, Caina was desperate to find a way to heal them and return to the sea. Aibrean did her best with poultices, but the worst of the damage was beyond her capabilities. When the home-sick mirror still couldn't fly without pain after several months, Aibrean suggested she try swimming to help build back the strength in her wings. She enlisted help from Dusk and Ong to add pools to the garden for Caina to try swimming in. Caina was elated at the prospect, and for the first time since arriving, she felt like she might be able to make a life among the clan.

With help from Aibrean and her water therapy Caina's wings have healed significantly, but she is still unable to fly long distances. But with the pools in the garden, she is now optimistic about making her home here. Although she still gets homesick, she now spends her days cultivating fish and marine life in the pools along side Nishati and Iris.

Caina is softspoken, but her determination to a goal is unwavering. She spent hours swimming across the pools to try to heal her wings, and shows that same dedication in whatever she puts her mind to. Her friends call her Hurri-Caina even though they live in the desert and have never actually seen a hurricane. 		NJLaLTk.png 19464799p.png
