Things weren't always this way- though Icer cannot remember a time when they weren't. They had once been of free will, living and doing what they were made to do- hold back the shade, trap it, and keep Sornieth safe from its looming threat. The shade is tricky though, and all it took for Icer to be torn from their post was the shade weakening their mind, just enough that a nearby artifact could take hold. Icer can remember vividly the tendrils clawing past their barrier and towards them, ensnaring them and enveloping them in a deep, primal fear. They can remember fighting, trying desperately to call for help and to beat the thing back and away. They remember that as quickly as the attack happened, it was over, that the shade had taken their strength, their willpower, and an alarming amount of their lifeforce. When Icer had finally managed to peel themself off the ground, their body seemed to move on its own accord. Walking off to the west towards the wastes of the seedscar. Their journey is mostly a blur at this point, they can really only remember the ache of their travels and the bone deep exhaustion. The gaoler doesnt recall ever arriving at their destination, but somehow still they stood at the entrance to Alrenion's lair. If the mirror was confused at their arrival, Icer cannot recall, too overtaken by the effects of the artifact to think of anything else other than loyalty to the plague saint. Eyes that had been glassy brightened and focused on the mirror, and in the stupor of their enthrallment they found themself bowing to the smaller beast. Icer does not pay much attention to the others under the enthrallment of the mirror, but has none the less come to realize that they seem to be weaker to the mind controlling effects of the artifacts than the others. No doubt a side effect of the devastating attack all that time ago that leaves the large dragon at a fraction of their once great strength and that leaves the blossoms decorating their frail body dry and half wilted.
