Biography

Multi-eye fire.

Ashitaka is the middle (and younger) brother to Adara (fire primal eye). His youngest brother Asano is here too (fire goat eye). Ashitaka too wanted to get away from overbearing mom in Howdoilnternet's lair. He was supposed to be a priest's accolyte but instead is having fun being wild and getting into trouble. He volunteered to be scout which his mom would hate because it is so dangerous. Because of his mother's objection he volunteered to be a "fireman" - which his mother did not realize meant putting out fires and not starting them.

Lore in form of letter writing to Mom.
Letter describes the intake process of immigration at this clan and how he is a temp and some of his misadventures. Eventually he will be a fireman but will not explain to his mom how this is about putting out fires. Mentions he got a tattoo and show pic with skin.

Part 1

All is hot in Blacksands Annex. The Howdoilnternet clan is going about its normal day, until a dragon messenger comes swooshing to the gate.

"Got a scroll for Anthea!" he shouts with a smile. The gate guard looks at him warily. “She needs to pay the postage for it!” the Messenger Dragon clarified. The gate guard nods and sends a fae messenger to find Anthea.

"A scroll! To you!" the little fae chitters, “Come quickly to the front gate! Come Quickly! Bring money for postage!” Without waiting for Anthea the little fae barrels back to the front gate. Anthea follows at a statelier gate befitting a Clan Leader.

When Althea arrives, the Messenger dragon hands her a clip board and a quill and says, “Sign here!” pointing to a place with an “X” on it -- and please pay 500 treasure postage. Althea precisely signs her name and returns the clipboard and quill. She then presents the messenger with 1 gem, “Keep the change,” she says. Then the Messenger Dragon takes off his pack, rustles around in it and pulls out a scroll. The Messenger Dragon hands the scroll to Anthea and says, “Thanks for trusting Dragon Home Service (DHS) and have a nice day!” The Messenger Dragon quickly closes his pack, securely fastens it to his back and shoots off into the sky ready for his next delivery. Anthea notices without surprise that the scroll is from her son and decides to walk back to her lair before reading the scroll.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Adara told me I had to write to you or 1) she would stop lending me treasure, and 2) you would come out here to check up on me. So I am writing you. How are you and Dad? I am fine.

Love,

Ashitaka

P.S. I got a new tattoo!

Part 2 Later that same day…

The same DHS messenger comes swooshing to the gate.

"Got another scroll for Anthea!" he shouts with a smile. The gate guard looks at him warily. “She needs to pay the postage for this one too!” the Messenger Dragon clarified. The gate guard nods and sends a fae messenger to find Anthea.

"Another scroll! To you!" the little fae chitters, “Come quickly to the front gate! Come Quickly! Bring money for postage!” Without waiting for Anthea, the little fae barrels back to the front gate. Anthea once again follows at a statelier gate befitting a Clan Leader.

When Althea arrives, once again the Messenger dragon hands her a clip board and a quill pointing to a place with an “X” on it for her to sign. “That will be 1,000 treasure postage please. Althea precisely signs her name and returns the clipboard and quill with a frow. She then presents the messenger with 2 gems, “For your trouble,” she says. Then the Messenger Dragon smiles as he takes the gems. Then he takes off his pack, rustles around in it and pulls out a thick scroll. The Messenger Dragon hands it to Anthea and says, “Thanks for trusting Dragon Home Service (DHS) and have a nice day!” The Messenger Dragon quickly closes his pack, securely fastens it to his back and shoots off into the sky ready for his next delivery. Anthea notices with surprise that the scroll is from her son and is worried that something bad had happened since it was unheard of to get two scrolls from him in one day. She opens the scroll immediately and begins to read.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Adara told me that the first scroll was not long enough and that I had to write at least 3 paragraphs (not counting this initial explanation or asking you if you and dad are well) or you would be winging out here the next morning after receiving this scroll. So here goes…

I like it here at Clan Medievalredragon although it is a bit of an odd place. They run things very differently compared to our clan. I don’t think it is because they are Rockheads -- I think it is just that this is a weird clan. First I am staying in this above-ground den made of wood. It kind of looks like a stable. It is not fancy but it is comfortable enough -- they give you the basics and that is good enough for me. I have to stay here until I get a permanent job with the Clan and then a cave lair space will be given to me. It is a little strange sleeping above ground, kind of like camping.

This Clan also has weird rules for their citizens. Once our letter of introduction was accepted we were taken to this lightning primal eye dragon called Thunderbird. He is in charge of Dragon Personnel Relations. He explained that in order to stay in the Clan as a permanent member I would need to have a permanent mundane job and also a society job. I am not sure exactly what that means but evidently it all requires lots of testing. I went through a week of testing of various kinds including physical, psychological, and brain tests. I had to take a career interest survey, a personality test, an intelligence test, eye and hearing tests, pain tolerance, memory tests and tests of my balance, endurance and brain scans. Then there was all the academic testing: reading comprehension, essay writing, hand writing, math placement, engineering design, art, singing and music tests, lore and science tests! I never took so many tests in my life. The following week I had to meet with Thunderbird to discuss the results and where “my interests and skills and knowledge intersected with the clan’s needs.” Evidently I did not qualify for any skilled jobs so they put me in a “temporary pool.” You might think this was water but what this really was is a group of unskilled labor dragons assigned to help various parts of the clan for a minimum wage. Each assignment is supposed to be for a week at a time. At the end of the week my supervisor and I fill out surveys to determine if I want and/or will get a more permanent position or if I should be assigned another temporary position. So far I have had five assignments in three weeks.

My first assignment was to help the Nannies with the hatchlings. How hard could that be you think? He loves hatchlings and hatchlings usually love him. Well evidently you are not supposed to show them how to blow smoke rings and have acid spit contests. Who knew? I just thought I was entertaining them. My second assignment was foraging for plants -- that one only lasted one day. I was supposed to get this special type of mushroom. I evidently got lost and got some “special” mushrooms but not the right kind of special. The ones I got cause “adverse psychological side-effects when eaten”. I still maintain that those mushrooms looked like the picture they gave me -- evidently there are many shades of white. My third assignment was to help one of the herdsmen with their animal herd. They sent me to Nyx who is a really nice girl to help her with these animals called bunnies. Bunnies look so cute and cuddly but those suckers can bite! Especially one mean son of a flame thrower named Blackberry. Evidently singeing the bitey critter was not a good idea. But I’ll say this, every time I walk by his den now he slinks away instead of rushing the fence like he does with other dragons (except Nyx). My next assignment was to wash pots and dishes in the Mess Hall kitchen. I ran into a little problem there when we caught the Chef in the middle of our flame throwing contest. He was not amused (and not too badly burned luckily). My last assignment was to dig holes for planting stuff. I did not do anything wrong there it was just boring and my supervisor said I was a little too “enthusiastic” and made too many holes. I say they did not specify how many holes were “too much” and evidently gardeners are lazy. I am not sure what my next assignment will be.
Well that is three paragraphs so I can have to sign-off now.

Love you both!

Ashitaka

P.S. Sorry you had to pay for the postage but I am broke. Please feel free to send treasure and/or gems. XXXOOO

Anthea Responds Nov. 14, 2019

A familiar beautiful gold and turquoise nocturne soars over the mountain range and lands by the MedievalRedragon Clan's entrance. She beamed at the guards and handed them a basket wrapped in fire red ribbons. A letter was attached to the inside of the basket with tree sap, along with salted game kept warm by flameweed. The messenger, handed the basket over.

"It's from Anthea" Fiamoth told Samhain. It had been ages since the nocturne last saw the little spiral, ages since she visited and trained alongside the fighters in the clan.

One last check to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything, and Fiamoth spread her wings to take off.

"Have a lovely day! It was wonderful to visit, although my visit was short!" She said, beaming. Next time she'd have to stay longer.

Hello my little ember! It makes me incredibly proud to know you're keeping true to your roots and staying loyal to fire and the Flamecaller! Quillon loves your tattoo (how could he not?) but it shocks me how much you look like your father! What was wrong with your lovely Maroon ripples?

Ashitaka, you're not supposed to teach hatchlings to blow smoke rings. Wait until they're young teens, then teach them. They're less likely to rat you out! Mirror Tongue

Nothing new is happening around here. Osiris and Asia are fighting again, which isn't unusual but still quite a pain to deal with. Something about the coliseum and training fighters for Flamecaller. Asia wants us to work in the Ghostlight Ruins, and Osiris wants to work in the Mire. This wouldn't be an issue if we didn't need them to stay together in the same venue or one stays back to work with the already trained fighters! All is okay, they're just stressed for Night of the Nocturne.

I hope you can find a job best suited for you! Perhaps look for something to do with fire? Perhaps you could smoke out nasty unwanted critters? Or maybe maintain the fires for the hatchlings to keep warm with? Whatever you do, I know you'll do well. That, or Adara will do it for you!

P.S. I sent some money so you have no excuse not to write back! I also sent some game for you to enjoy. Think of us back at home when enjoying your dinner, and praise Flamecaller for the hunting success
