Fernweh

A wild and boisterous baby who wakes up every morning and chooses adventure. She refuses to stay in one place for any length of time and will pounce on any leaf in her way. She was born in and is growing up in a twisting, overgrown woodland, but since she's known the trees all her life, she can navigate it perfectly. Her small size doesn't hurt either.

Playing alone does get pretty...well...lonely, though. She's recently recruited Sookie, the polite rich kid from next door, to get into all sorts of trouble with her. The two hatchlings often come home late for dinner, covered in mud and thorns and carrying some Very Nice Stick with lots of bugs on it that gets thrown away when they're not looking.

Fernweh's favorite adventure is to her very own secret hideaway in the woods, that only she and Sookie have ever been to (and Sookie's not sure she could find it on her own). There, and only there, Fernweh will actually open up about all the sadness she buries under her wild spirit. She talks about all the places she wants to travel and the big important dragon she wants to be when she grows up. Her circumstances aren't great, and she worries her dreams will be dreams forever. Sookie comforts her and keeps her secret.

Fernweh ~Obscure Sorrow 0/23~ A German word meaning "far-woe" or "farsickness," the opposite of homesickness. It is a longing for far-off places, especially those that have never been visited. Similar to Hiraeth, which implies missing something that never was, or never will be again.
