Tenebrium's life is a long, winding story. As a hatchling, a fragment of the Shade attached itself to him, causing his birth clan to abandon him in the caves beneath present-day Traveler's Rest. For years he was alone in the dark, unable to visit the surface except at the full moon, which somehow tempered the Shade within him.

With the construction of the Rest came new challenges for Tenebrium. The sudden influx of dragons excited the Shade fragment, and Tenebrium had to retreat into a select few caves and passages to avoid them. He kept visiting the surface at the full moon, now hidden by the lush growth of the Borderwood, and watched the city from afar. One night, as he watched the lights, Omen chanced upon him while foraging for herb cuttings. Tenebrium was woefully bad at speaking after years of silence, but Omen was patient with him, and the two gradually fell in love.

Falling for Omen made Tenebrium confront his condition head-on. He was tired of having to work around the Shade, and began seeking ways to get rid of it. In the midst of this searching Persephone stumbled upon him in the caves, and decided that she would help him. Enlisting the help of the clan's head mage Sylph and her apprentice Glaze, the Shade fragment was removed from Tenebrium and sealed within a breastplate after a lengthy and painful operation. Tenebrium was carefully moved into Omen's cottage in the Borderwood. He was finally free.

Tenebrium is still recovering from the removal of the Shade fragment, but his quiet new life with his husband is just the peace he needs.
