Biography
Arcane Attaché
daughter of the Matriarch
daughter of the Matriarch
Mishap in the Lab during the 2022 Bacchanaal
Gwynneth had come so far. Rubyback felt that he was more often commending her progress and complimenting her many gifts. Gone were the bursts of mana energy brought on by her hatchling tantrums or the unpredictable mana bolts randomly exploding during her emotional adolescence. Through years of training (and some tears) Gwynneth had emerged as a composed, graceful, and gifted master of the arcane.
Rubyback hadn't thought twice when he agreed to watch over his Life Brother's laboratory so Monachemy could attend the annual Bacchanaal. He was not a chemist himself, but he understood the fundamentals and his only task was to keep an eye on the cauldron temperature while Monachemy's latest concoction incubated. Besides, Lege was there to make sure he set the timer correctly.
When Gwynneth entered the laboratory bringing pies from the Brewpub, Rubyback thought he saw a couple of the technicians flinch, but he dismissed it. She was obviously in a good mood; she was humming and did a little waltz-step as she set the pies down at the end of the counter. Her smile lit up the room.
Literally. The air shimmered around her head and Rubyback saw the technicians scurry to cover their cauldrons. She scooped up a little potted plant from Olive's work desk and sachayed over to where Rubyback tended the cauldron. As she approached, they both spoke at once. "Ruby, this poor plant needs more light..." "Gwynneth, dear, I think you need to tone it down a bit..." "Oooo! What's in the cauldron? Is this --" |
There was a soft *pop* as Gwynneth, Rubyback, and the caudron were enveloped in a blossoming cloud of sparkling mana...
The technicians rushed to open the windows and inspect their cauldrons and, as the air cleared, they seemed to breathe a collective sigh of relief. Until Rubyback noticed the plant that Gwynneth still held in her claws...

A Rare Talent wrote:
At a very young age, it became apparent that Gwynneth was a conduit for Arcane energies. Fortunately, the clan had an arcane dragon who recognized the situation. And the need for careful and immediate action. Rubyback tried to explain it to the Matriarch. "Your daughter is like a battery...or a tuning fork," he began. |
"My daughter is a...what???!" Thagwynn's crests rattled in shock. Rubyback tried a different tack. "I would be honored to take her on as my protégé. I can help her master her natural talents. And she is a delightful hatchling. It would be my pleasure." |
