Kanawai

Oh, he's a cunning one, that Kanawai. A wily, smooth character and not to be trusted. The sort that mothers invoke to keep their young from wandering off. He always tends to be right where you'd rather not meet him.

Lately, that tends to be at the bar in Pan's Brewpub. He's careful to sit at the end farthest from the kitchens, otherwise the customers get...uncomfortable. Suspicious. By and large, he's perfectly harmless (and up on his hygiene, thank-you-very-much!) but he knows what he knows.

Like his name: Kanawai = Law. Sometimes folks ask him if he's the police (if they can get up the nerve). He can tell from the side-eyes that there are some who suspect him to be secret black ops. But they've got it wrong. The law is so much more than rules and regulations.

Law also refers to the Laws of the natural world: Life & Death, Growth & Contagion. Kanawai understands in a way that few dragons do, that the Gladekeeper cannot live and thrive without her sister, Plaguebringer. They were born together and their lives intertwine. He understands that Death is a neutral term. And that lump under your arm? You might want to get that looked into.
