A solemn and serious professor of magic, Keshet was raised in the angelic Dark Sclera sect (as his friend Nelson describes in his journal). An extremely gifted magician, he enjoys imparting knowledge on his students and spending time with his new friends on the faculty board, especially his partner Zuriel. Often called Kes by his friends (a nickname originally intended to help him open up more), he is most often reserved and slightly aloof but nonetheless considers it his job to protect Home - a duty he has risen to with a fervour.

- Biography
Born to the angelic sect of Dark Sclera dragons, Keshet was taught since he was a hatchling to follow orders without question and keep himself distant from others. He grew up being told that he and others like him were inherently better than other dragons, a philosophy he never quite believed. Most dragons who leave Dark Sclera society escape as young adults; Kes was considerably older when he left and therefore had more difficulty acclimating to mainstream dragon society. Originally named Camiel, he changed his name upon leaving. He attempted to get by in the Tangled Wood for a while, but Shadow wasn't for him - much too gullible to thrive in a Flight where sarcasm is basically the official language, he eventually wandered into Light and happened to meet Zuriel in Mirrorlight. Although Home's faculty board was initially reluctant to hire him, they knew that Kes needed a home just as much as Home needed another magic professor, and Kes eventually came to fit right in and consider Home his family. Kes and Zuriel eventually happened to find Kes' little brother, Yekom, and bring him back to Home.

- Life at Home
One of two magic professors on the main faculty board, Keshet is the non-elemental magic professor. He specializes in transfigurations, conjurations, dispellments, and other types of magic that are not tied to elemental magic. An incredibly practiced and skilled magician, Kes is able to conjure corporeal objects from thin air (although these do vanish after a time), perform simultaneous switches of two objects, and turn objects and even living creatures into different things - all highly impressive magical feats. Though he is known as a patient professor, Keshet's classes are notorious for their difficulty level, and he only accepts the most talented students into his advanced classes. He is one of the few professors whose students look at being admitted to his advanced classes as a mark of honour, and saying that you've passed his applied transfiguration class in particular will immediately end any arguments about who the best magician is. When he's not teaching or working, Kes can often be found in Home's library, sitting in on other professor's lectures, spending time with his partner Zuriel, or raiding the kitchen in-between meals. He has a notorious sweet tooth, one of the few traits he shares with his little brother Yekom.

- Relationships
Keshet is well-liked by both Home's residents and his colleagues on the faculty board. He can often be found spending time with his husband Zuriel, whose street smarts help balance him out. Zuriel and Kes grew very close very quickly, and although it took a few years for them to start officially dating, everyone knew they were together long before that. Kes is also close with Zuriel's brother Betzalel and the rest of Home's faculty board, and enjoys spending time with his brother Yekom. Yekom and Kes have very different personalities, and needed some time to warm up to each other, but now are very close. Kes is one of only a handful of Ancients on the faculty board, and is the highest-ranking one, and as such feels that he must always set an excellent example for Home's Ancient residents. Many Ancient and Dark Sclera residents often come to him for advice, thanks in no small part to his willingness to open up about his own struggles and be sincere with his advice. Though he has improved a great deal as he's spent more time with other dragons and has worked on unlearning some of the things he was taught growing up, Kes is still a bit of an acquired taste for many dragons. His distant and cool demeanour makes him difficult to get to know at first, and indeed hatchlings taking his beginner's courses often wonder why his older students like him so much. His students and friends, however, know him to be a very loyal, passionate, and dedicated type of dragon whose door is always open to others and who is always willing to offer advice or a kind word whenever needed. In fact, Keshet's persistent tendency to put those he cares about before himself means he's often a great annoyance to Home's doctors - he's shown up in Home's hospital more times than anyone can count because he'll often block miscast magic in his beginner's classes with his own body rather than let it hit a student. He's also notoriously accident prone, and Home's doctors joke he should have a bed reserved for him.

- Personality
Serious, practical, and somewhat aloof, Keshet often comes across as cool, detached, or even unfeeling. He tends to keep his emotions close to his chest and is not prone to outbursts of any kind, often unemotional and succinct in his speech. Though not the friendliest dragon around at first glance, he is patient, gentle, and forgiving, willing to look past any slight to himself. He is known for being honest but reluctant to speak an unkind word about anyone, and can always find something positive to say about a student's work, no matter how abysmal. His seemingly aloof demeanour is a leftover from his days in Dark Sclera society, and though he's never been able to shake it, his empathetic and compassionate nature means he has an easier time getting to know others than he once did. Kes is extremely protective and considers it his job to keep Home safe, easily becoming worried when he thinks someone he cares about is in trouble and getting frustrated when things don't move quickly enough for him to make things right. He has a serious and solemn way about his bearing and speech that makes anything he's talking about seem positively dire. He is often behind on social trends and frequently misuses slang - though this was definitely unintentional at first, no-one can agree anymore whether or not he just does it now to get a laugh. He can still be a bit literal and often misses sarcasm. Keshet has definitely opened up since he came to consider Home his family, and now enjoys nothing more than relaxing and joking around with the dragons he's closest to.
