Hrim
~Gardener~

Hrim is a bit of an unfortunate soul. Not that he would ever admit it, even to himself, or give any outward sign of it, but whomever sees him at work will have a hard time to keep from pitying him.

Hrim... doesn't have the best control over his magic. The permanent ice crystals stuck to his body is visual proof of this. Despite this, however, he loves plants. He loves to see them grow and flourish and live.

I believe you can understand his problem.

He tries his best, but sooner or later, even the stoutest evergreens die due to his frosty touch. His garden is more of a museum of ice sculptures than anything else. Had he been a more ordinary Ice dragon, he would have been satisfied by this - by simply preserving the beauty of the plants. He holds, however, to the principle that plants are more beautiful if they are alive and changeable, his Wind father having taught him to see the beauty in the ephemeral.

To add to his misfortune, he accidentally froze his familiar, a Greenroot Janustrap, one day when he was still a hatchling. Instead of taking on a new, more chill-tolerant familiar, he has been carting around its ice block wherever he goes since then, in the hopes of one day gaining control of his magic and thawing it out.

No-one has yet had the courage and heart to tell him that even if he succeeds, it will most likely already be dead.

...though Lifa and Varmunda certainly contemplate it in their less-than-charitable moments, when he's wandered into their part of the gardens and frozen their plants. Again. The obvious affection and love he lavishes over the ice block always stops them at the last moment, though.

There is something so incredibly innocent about him in those moments that not even they, in all their indignant anger, can bring themselves to break his heart.
