Biography

NEPHRITE
~_______~

Nephrite is not really a Gaoler; they are something pretending at it.

Pretending at it very well, mind you, but nonetheless there is a subtle click of chitin beneath the soft swish of shifting fur, and an insectoid chittering that echoes behind each softly-spoken word.

Perhaps they slipped out of containment one day, or perhaps they came into the enclave from somewhere beyond, drawn by whatever strange powers are locked up in the warden's vaults...
or perhaps, perhaps, they are simply seeking companionship.

They haven't made any move to harm anyone, after all,
and seem content enough at playing out the role they made for themselves.

Coincidence wrote on 2020-10-21 07:40:03:
The others in the tunnels don't give Nephrite any trouble at all. Most of them are indifferent to his presence-- as if they either forgot he wasn't originally part of their group or forgo their suspicion in favor of politeness-- and as a result stay silent when the spikes on his flank scrape by the walls, or the chattering behind his words linger in echoes. He can't quite figure out of they are like this to him and him only, and he does not wish to.

The one thing he does that is of any alarm is best described as a sudden craze, when the shuffling of legs their owner is ill-used to rings out further than they can run. He will go on this chase until he finds one of the others, and trails them for a moment. This happens every so often and does little more than put the others at unease. Other times, he can be found retracing the paths of his clanmates, seemingly for no reason at all. However, he isn't harming anyone, so he is let to wander.

Notes: Since they live in a cave system, air is limited so I decided to incorporate that into Nephrite's lore. Basically, he breathes what the gaolers exhale and lets out air. Enjoy your air purifier

Q: WHAT ARE YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!?

A: The large creature tore away from the scream with startled body language, their fur up, rippling with concern and fright.

They click and thrum with an insectoid trill, swirling greed eyes fixed on the loud vexation. Their tail whips back and forth, thick plates of chitin ready to club an attacker should that call for it. It had been abruptly awaken from sleep, their mind foggy and confused. Pangs of hunger writhe in their gut. Maybe, just maybe, the asker would be a good snack?

It is on the asker for being such a rude alarm clock.

Q. NEPHRITE, why are you so scared of sudden changes?

A. The sound of soft, subtle clicking winds through the air as the... 'Dragon' considers a response. This is the first time they've really talked to an outsider. They feel nervous. They settle themself down, tail curling over their paws, being very careful to not poke your eye out with those sharp, jutting shards.

Their voice is soft, heavily accented with clicks, snaps, and strange insectoid tones that sound like it should be coming from a choir, and not one dragon.

"Changes mean new visitors. New visitors mean that more know of me. The more that know of me, the more I'm likely to be hurt because of a phobia of insects or a misunderstanding in how i communicate..."
