So, this is kind of new for me.

After meeting my husband, when our relationship finally progressed to the point of intimacy, I wondered if there was something wrong with me. I'd always had an interest in certain proclivities in niche corners of the internet, but when it came to actualy physical intimacy, I always balked. I thought maybe it was me being insecure and inexperienced, but it didn't really get better for the longest time.

I wasn't repulsed, I just . . . wasn't interested. There were better things to do, like snuggle and stuff. Cuddles and kisses and other shows of affection gave me just as much intimate satisfaction as anything else. More so. It was less sweaty and less exhausting and had fewer expectations.

However, there were times when I was interested. It was those times (and the fact that I enjoyed watching and reading erotic things) that made me never really consider that I was asexual. I tried not to deprive my incredibly sexual husband and agreed to those late-night moments because I knew he enjoyed and thought I wasn't really interested, it wasn't like I hated it.

But then I found out about the demi and gray part of it and the gray ace spectrum really resonated with me. It may not be accepted in some circles, but it really made me feel relieved. I thought maybe there was something medically wrong with me lowering my libido or something, but it's just who I am. My husband is the only one with whom I've been able to connect with on such a level that I've felt the need to be intimate.

One boy, when I was in high school, was trying really hard but I couldn't even let him kiss me. That was the first red flag. I thought maybe I wasn't ready . . . I guess I just didn't like him as much as I thought I had. I'd always wanted boyfriends, but it was only ever boys that I spoke with and shared interests in.
