The night sky is the same every year, with not a cloud in sight. The night sky never changes no matter what time it is, and it’s almost as if you can see right through to eternity. Grains of sand float lazily in the air, and the moonlight shines on them like glass shards against a dark canvas. That’s how it had always been, until today. Today, something had broken through the night sky and disrupted it, causing countless grains to fall from their high above position. The particles slowly drifted down to earth; they fell so slowly that it seemed they would never hit the ground, but one day they did. And then… then came darkness. Darkness enveloped everything in an instant. The sky had vanished into nothingness. There were no stars, no moonlight, and very little breeze. Even the wind had died out in its efforts to blow away the darkness. There was nothing but silence, and for some odd reason, fear. The first sign of life was felt only by those who had seen death before. |
