I was born, and I had no memory. But as I walk through a desert, my soul is still there, in the flowers of my garden. It's called Eden. And it's not real. Not like the ones on Earth. The ones that smell sweet, and look soft. They are only pretty from afar. But in person, they aren't pretty at all; they taste bitter, like dust and ashes. Like blood, and betrayal. They look dead inside - dead to all but the flowers and the trees. In fact, most of the plants are dead - dying with no hope of ever blooming again. It seems fitting, given what Eden was made from. Eden is nothing like Earth, where everything feels alive and vibrant and filled with colour. There isn't an inch of ground that doesn't look beautiful. Is this why the plants died? Were they trying to reach for life when they were taken away? Or are they afraid, because they know death will find them? Maybe this is why Eden never grows – not even in their native soil. They must hate the idea of living, of having a chance to grow, if that’s what death means for them.
