Holly doesn’t remember her first thoughts. She has no idea how many times she has shifted and changed over the years into slightly new forms. But what the guardian does remember is this - she is supposed to bring light and love to those under her charge.

Her role hasn’t been arduous. For the most part, Holly is expected to show up and spread good feelings. Something about her colors - the vivid red and green, the snowy accents, the shiny gold ribbons - brings about a melange of remembrances in nearly everyone. And when she sings, others can’t help but sing along with her; sometimes it is grudging, as if they cannot help themselves… but mostly it is with wholehearted, unabashed enjoyment of the tunes that have been burned into their minds.

Holly had started feeling as if the world was moving away from her type of celebration. More and more, the dragon saw material things and a feeling obligation chasing out the gentler, less covetous reasons of the season. The guardian was very, very sad about the whole thing and had started thinking about giving up on her duties.

And then she found Chaotic Daydreams. Holly was drawn by the sheer, dazzling panoply of different personalities, body types, mental orientations, and stories that made up this ‘lair of the lunatics’. Spirits of winter celebration are - at their core - a shout of life in the middle of a frigid wasteland. They are the cry of hope and determination to keep going that every living creature needs. No one embodied hope, in Holly’s eyes, like these survivors of so many fractured tales.

While the world outside this particular clan may be changing, at what Holly considers an entirely too fast pace in the completely wrong direction, the most treasured idea in the lair is that of love. Love for yourself, love for others, and love from others. Some are having to work harder than others to accept one or more of the ideas… but Holly is a being of love in the frozen heart. She’ll keep making her magic to thaw the season and bring about spring again.
