 One of the most fundamental abilities of a sentient being is the ability to feel joy. From the time we are little, joy is easily found and reveled in; from the smallest happenstances to the biggest events in life, we instinctively know how to wring every bit of happiness and energy from a situation. Unfortunately, that doesn’t last for some. The act of growing up and learning about responsibility and denial is a hard passage that sometimes will take our feelings of joy away. Unless you’re determined to hang on to the childlike wonder and glee that you were born with, life becomes a bit more bleak. Joyeux is having none of that. She may be ancient, but she will never give up on the giddy, gleeful feelings that envelope her. Especially at the holiday time of the year, the veilspun is full of near-manic delight that she absolutely must share with everyone. Those who have lost their hope and their ability to wring joy from anything are often a bit put off by the little whirlwind. But Joyeux is contagious, if you are around her long enough. The icy walls that were put around hearts to protect them from the darker things in the world melt a little in her radiant happiness. Which is probably why Joyeux is so loved and needed at Chaotic Daydreams. Many of the lunatics in the lair have had their joy forcibly taken from them. It’s a heartbreak, and a challenge, to the little holiday spirit. While she’ll never force anything, just the glow of her presence is enough to peel back layers one at a time. And someday, she hopes the entire world will be able to celebrate with her freely and without pain.  |
