Parrot is a joyful Mirror Dragon. Born to a wild, constantly-dissolving pack of Mirror Dragons, he grew up fighting tooth and claw and caring for the younger and less able-bodied of the pack. During his young adulthood, food ran scarce, and his pack disbanded, leaving him alone to fend for himself.

He used his skills to make it on his own in the Scorched Forest, where he was constantly infuriated by the local Gyres - and their inorganic and resulting inedibility. Curious as to what had resulted in such an oddity, he began to dissect the sparse remains of his prey - an activity that led to him meeting the dragon who would become his research partner and the mother of his children, Basilisk. She shared his interest in Gyres, and the two eventually settled together in a lair.

When their partnership expanded into shared propagation of a clan - a decision made from a number of factors, none the least Parrot's desire to have a permanent version of the shifting pack he had loved growing up in - Parrot became the primary "parent" to the ever-growing family. Though he remained a partner in research, he was usually the one who stayed home when Basilisk travelled to find new specimens. He has permanently chosen to forego taking a mate in favor of his relationship with Basilisk, even though it's not a physically intimate one.

The arrival of the devoted caretakers Leban and Saidiqi have freed him up, but he still does his research from home as the Head of Housekeeping, analyzing raw data gathered by Basilisk when not preoccupied with the goings-on and statistics of the clan. They've made some startling breakthroughs already, and he's had reasonable success with teaching the kids and helping to engage them in the research.
