Mustang is the deputy of Sinew City, and has been since his brother Vaquero’s ascent to power. The brothers’ intervention has been attributed to the successful cultivation and expansion of the city as a whole, which Mustang wears as a gilded badge of pride. Although it was his brother who came up the initial proposition of an allegiance with the Vulture Talon Mercenary Company, Mustang holds a tenuous relationship with Hemo at the best of times, viewing his and the company’s intervention as an encroachment on the brothers’ claim over the city.

In Sinew City, it’s the bullets that do the talking, and no dragon better illustrates this than the deputy himself. That isn’t to say he’s particularly headstrong—rather, he holds no fondness for idle conversation, preferring the company of silence and the smoking barrel of a gun, and would much rather shoot at something than ask questions.

Mustang’s subordinates know him as a laidback officer, with a laissez faire approach to ‘managing’ any criminals and rabble-rousers. He deals by the spirit of the law, pardoning even murder and thievery, given a good enough reason. The only few times he’s ever drawn the line have been cases involving hatchlings, slavery, torture, or any other especially brutal deed.

Although regarded as a flying social faux pas with a general distaste for small talk, he cherishes his relationship with Vaquero more than any other. He sticks like a burr to the sheriff’s side. Wherever Vaquero is, rest assured Mustang will most likely be waiting ‘round the corner, and Plaguebringer help the soul that gives his brother lip.

The deputy likes himself a challenge, and will readily square up in a friendly sharpshooting competition against any would-be challenger with a pistol. He also likes to spend his down time playing card games and puzzles, and enjoys the savory taste of strange exotic fruits. Due to a certain incident in his childhood, he despises the taste of mushrooms.
