A traveler at heart, he is rarely ever in the Ravenwatchers' main clangrounds and instead spends most of his time wandering the Tangled Woods searching for creatures tainted by the Shade and hunting them down. He gets distracted sometimes, by the singing that echoes through the woods at midnight, or the celebratory songs during the annual solstice and equinox celebrations.

history
Having barely entered adulthood and earning his name, Gilings still has a little ways to go when it comes to distinguishing between the darker denizens of the Ravenwatchers, and actual eldritch beings. This led to an incident where he had pursued what had seemed to be one such creature which was disguised as a dragon. He had hounded it down, and was about to finish it when Erelxa had stepped in between them and shown him his mistake. Not unscathed, he had taken a merciless barrage of magical artes head-on, and is cursed to no longer be able to see in dim lighting. Not very useful in the twilight shrouded realm of the Shadowbinder. The dragon; Xardril, had never been on good terms with him since. And has made it a point to make his life a little more unbearable whenever she could. Most of which consisted of filling his lair with piles of stones, bones, and insect husks. It never helps that he rarely ever returns to his lair, but his only comfort lay in the fact that his belongings were few and not valuable enough to be missed when stolen.
In order to help allieviate some of his blindness, he got Carenoa to lend a claw in affixing magical runes and glowing flasks to him. He is able to turn the lights off with a thought but hardly does so, unless in dire straits. While they are of not much help when it comes to lighting up pathways, he is at least no longer stumbling over tree roots or walking headfirst into thick bramble growths and getting entangled within. Even so, he still tends to keep towards the side of the border towards the Sunbeam Ruins; where light is more readily available.
