 As the name of their profession suggests, Xanna and Ash work with light itself: capturing it, manipulating it, fixing it in tangible form. They make lanterns, yes, and glowing stones, but also explosives and reservoirs of great magical power -- for what can be stronger than sunlight, the force which ultimately feeds all Sornieth? They make weapons to smite the undead and unholy, and sometimes they make unholy things themselves. They also make children, and teach them their craft.

From the moment he came out of the egg, Rodran's parents considered him especially blessed -- the Lightweaver had given him many eyes, the better to take in light. His condition turned out to be slightly inconvenient in the forge, where it added more vulnerable spots to his hide, more eyes for soot and smoke to sting. But still, Xanna and Ash gave him exhaustive training as a Lightsmith, and he learned the finest of their skills. He makes exquisitely beautiful things.
