Bentley and his angelic boyfriend Raziel were born and raised in all-Dark Sclera Clans. Dragons born and raised in all-Dark Sclera Clans rarely leave them, and have a rather peculiar set of beliefs. They are split into two constantly warring sects: angels are believed to have been created of divine essence, while demons are believed to have been created of the Shade. Bentley and Raziel have very strong Dark Sclera heritage, which manifests as the stark black feathers on Bentley's wings (which he adores, and keeps more well-maintained than any of Home's dragons with natural feathers), the bright lightning-bolt patterns across their scales, and the fact that their extremely potent magic simply doesn't align with known elements. Bentley is fond of using his magic for the sake of convenience, especially where Raziel's convenience is concerned. His magic is potent enough that he can summon daylight at nighttime and transmute objects at will - he would be a powerful magician, if only he would choose to devote time to magical study rather than magicking up tea for Raziel.

It was Bentley's idea to escape Dark Sclera society, and he'd be damned if he'd let Raziel stay there alone. Despite how easy he often is to get along with, Bentley has a ready sneer, a quick temper, and can be rather emotion-driven. He can be impulsive and tends to get anxious easily. He doesn't much care for his eyes, and keeps them covered with dark glasses even indoors. This makes him very liable to bump into things, which lead to his habit of simply wrapping himself around Raziel's neck and riding around like that. He's a touch lazy. Though Bentley is inherently more emotional than Raziel, he's much less expressive. Raziel tends to have a hundred microexpressions a minute; Bentley is much better at masking what he's feeling. As a member of the demonic sect, Bentley was expected to be ruthless and violent and vicious, none of which he very much cares for at all. He likes to put up a bit of a show, sure, and might pretend like accidentally burning the biscuits makes him evil. Bentley doesn't let many see his soft side - he keeps a lovingly-maintained garden, draws little hearts on his notebooks, and learned to cook simply for Raziel's sake (Raziel likes to help him out in the kitchen, though, as Raziel can't cook, his 'help' is mostly telling him that it smells good). Bentley may have a tendency to be a touch aloof and he might be a bit too hasty at times, but he trusts Raziel to smooth out his rougher edges.
