______ As a young dragon Anemone grew up in an Ice Clan that lived in the Snowsquall Tundra. When she was a hatchling, she was climbing a tree with her brother Maur. She fell, and hadn’t yet learned how to fly. Surprisingly she never hit the ground. Soft vines and leaves had somehow moved to catch her fall. However, Anemone’s parents Raguel and Seraphina were horrified. They didn’t know what they should do, but they decided they couldn’t get rid of Anemone until she was old enough to actually survive on her own. For the next few months the dragons of her Clan avoided her, until one day a gray Coatl crashed into their camp. He was unconscious, badly injured, and no one knew what to do with him. Anemone however, ventured into the cold icy tundra to find herbs that could heal the strange dragon. When she returned, she helped the male Coatl, and learned he was traveling to the forests. He said it was “a place far away from his mistakes” and so he had to leave soon. Anemone didn’t feel comfortable with letting the strangely captivating and delicate dragon go by himself, especially since he had just been severely hurt. And of course, Anemone’s Clan was still looking for a reason and time to force her out of the Clan. They supported her decision to leave with the Coatl, who’s name was Seal. Together, they journeyed through many strange Clan and unfamiliar territories, but when they finally arrived in the forests, they were happy. Anemone connected with the plants to help find a way to the nearest Clan when they got lost. And that was how Anemone found her way to Sanctuary.

______ I bet I can climb the tree faster than you!” Maur exclaimed, his tail flicking excitedly. Anemone gasped in fake shock. “You? Climb a tree faster than me? Impossible!” The two Nocturnes giggled, and then Maur scrambled up the tree. Anemone followed him, trying to chase him up the trunk. “Slow down you rabbit-brain, you never said go!” She yelled up to him as he continued to giggle while scrambling from branch to branch. The two siblings continued up the tree in the same fashion for a while, until Anemone lost her grip. She slipped and let out a loud yelp as she fell out of the tree. Her eyes squeezed shut and she braved herself for the hard impact of the hard, icy ground below her. But she never hit it. Her eyes opened cautiously and instead of feeling pain and the hard and cold ground, she felt soft leaves and plants supporting her. She gripped vines under her, trembling slightly from fear. She stared up, and met eyes with her brother, who was staring at her shocked. “A-Anemone, you . . . Those plants- just moved and caught you,” he stuttered, eyes wide. Anemone slipped and fell a meter to the ground, landing in a cushion of soft snow. “How did that happen . . .” Were the only words that Anemone could muster.
