Sallow Leader of the Rebellion Status: Alive Desperate | Feeble | Kindly | Gentle | Determined Grimoire cannot raise the dead through magic alone. Slaves toil year round to gather bones, cut flesh, and serve the acolytes. If a slave speaks out of turn or refuses to bow, he is beaten within an inch of his life. And if a slave dies... well, he is simply brought back to life as a mindless zombie. Sallow, like many of the other dragons in Grimoire's lair, did not come by choice. He was captured from another lair and forced into slave labor for Grimoire's clan. Sallow has served the Necromancer's Workshop for most of his life. He hardly remembers what life was like on the outside. Each and every day, he labors endlessly in the minds. Some days, he cuts at the rock with a pickaxe. Other days, he is harnessed to a sled and forced to pulls boulders much bigger than he is. If Sallow dares to refuse his duties, he might find himself on the receiving end of the Butcher Brothers' swords. Sallow's life is unceasing misery and torment. Yet, in spite all of this, his spirit isn't broken. Sallow waits and bides his time, looking for the perfect opportunity to strike back against his captors. Sallow used to dream of escape. However, after several escape attempts ended in disaster, he's decided to put his energy into something more proactive. His ultimate goal is nothing less than the death of Grimoire and the full destruction of the Workshop. Sallow has no real plan for how to achieve his goals as of yet, but he has recruited several other slaves to his cause. He's formed a close, mother-son bond with the mysterious Gravedigger and he is among the few to know the truth about her powers. But the actions of slaves never escape the eyes of their master. Grimoire and her acolytes have knowledge of Sallow's attempts to stir up rebellion. Rather than simply killing Sallow outright, they decided to make an example of him. Blister designed a terrible curse to weaken, humiliate, and ultimately destroy Sallow. Not long ago, Sallow discovered strange growths protruding from his skin. The growths became long, spiraling, black-and-red horns. The horns burst messily from his skin, leaving open wounds that constantly bleed. Sallow has tried to keep the growths under control. With the Gravedigger's help, he cuts off the new horns with a bone saw and covers the wounds with bandages. But he cannot stop them entirely. New growths appear every single day. Sallow knows that it's only a matter of time until he turns into a monster, but he's going to fight the transformation every step of the way. |
