A B O U T
Ermengarde is an exemplary student, training without complaint from dawn until dusk. She practices her drills until she can perform them flawlessly, obeying Sanctuary’s every lesson down to the letter. In short, she is the most attentive pupil that a teacher could hope for. But for all of her hard work, her heart isn’t in it.

She understands the importance of learning how to protect her clan and the gravity of the choice to lay down her life in service of them. So she keeps her mouth shut, throwing herself into her training and smiling under the hard-won praise of her mentors. But beneath the guise of devoted student and perfect daughter, she feels a great, unfulfillable emptiness.

After her armor is polished and weapons hung up for the day, her evenings are spent alone in quiet solitude. She scribbles her thoughts in the margins of her training manuals, hoping that one day they may amount to something.

H I S T O R Y
Even in a land of magic, it’s rare for a dragon to know their destiny. But the moment she hatched from her egg, the clan’s Seer foretold that it was Ermengarde’s fate to die gloriously in battle. He saw a future where her legendary feat would be passed down for generations to come.

What a comfort it must be, her clanmates whispered to her enviously, to know for sure that her story would live beyond her own death, that she would truly mean something.

When she came of age, she was apprenticed to Andromache of Clan Petrichor, one of the most prestigious fighters in the Dragonhome. She has spent many years in training under their watchful eye, always feeling as though her life has been predetermined for her.

Ermengarde can’t help but to imagine a life free from the expectations, a life where she could choose her own path. But she knows that dropping out of her training program would be a grave disappointment to her everyone in her birth clan. Worse, it might soil the great destiny that she has grown up in the shadow of.
