Spade - Cryptid Hunter

Spade is the lair's cryptid hunter and expert rude boy.

Growing up on a pirate vessel in the Wind wastes, he was never one for having patience or a tolerable demeanor. Having his fair share of kicking dragons he didn't like off the precarious ships he boarded, Spade by and large was known for his little care for life or the consequences of his actions. This eventually led him down the path of mercenary work where his ability to perform without question was valued even though he was more often than not disliked by his clients.

While he didn't mind his morally questionable work, a genuine desire for something more meaty always nagged at him. Cryptid hunting, while usually fruitless, attracted him for the sheer danger and of course ample coin if he actually did find something. While most of this work turned him into a poor excuse of a paranormal investigator, there were many times where he got to banish a Shade creature or two. One of his targets was Sirena, which eventually led him to the Pustules where he found a cozy home among his kind.

It was certainly quite the surprise when he left home and returned with a child, a boy named Ace who Spade claims is his son and the resemblance is quite striking. Spade doesn't like talking about where the kid came from but notes that he was just as surprised as everyone else to find out he was a father. Ace is a good kid who can take care of himself and often has to remind Spade "how to dad" like when making food.
