Aurantiaco

Story

As a hatchling, Aurantiaco was excited and happy to the point of annoying the adults around her with her constant jokes and pranks. She was put to work doing chores in the clan's kitchens as punishment -- none of the adults actually expected she'd like it! Watching the older dragons prepare food fascinated her, and at night she would sneak into the kitchens to experiment with food. When the head cook tried a crunchy bug-bread loaf she'd left on the counter, they thought an adult made it and didn't believe Aurantiaco's insistence that it was her creation--until she recreated it for him.

Aurantiaco stayed in her clan a while, learning to hunt, forage, and fish for new and exciting ingredients. Her cheerful, yet insistent personality made it easy for her to get a bargain on spices and rare ingredients with traveling merchants. But she was dismayed that dragons simply cooked for their own species. She wanted all dragons to be able to enjoy professionally made dishes and avoided sticking to the vegetarian or insectivore diet in her creations. The pearlcatcher diet doesn't matter to her, and she often makes herself sick test-tasting her meaty and fishy dishes.

She left to gain experience cooking for others, and has a goal to "taste everything in Sornieth." Surely some Arcane clan would accept that this was worthy knowledge to pursue, she thought... which led her to the Coalition of Broken Glass.

Personality

Easily excited by meeting new dragons or talking to friends, Aurantiaco possesses a spice for life matched by few. Her pearlcatcher sense of superiority only shines through when she talks about cooking because she believes herself to be the "best chef in the world." This can backfire when combined with her stubbornness, as she takes personal offense if someone dislikes her cooking and becomes uncharacteristically silent for up to days afterward. She'll never stop working on something until it is perfected.

Her cheerfulness is contagious, and she's made it a goal to tailor-make every dragon in the clan a dish they'll love. Other dragons tease she's spiral-like in her happiness and activity, to which she'll retort that a spiral could never hope to match her in a cooking contest.

Aurantiaco is also a bit of a flirt, caring not if the other dragon is male or female or if they are the same species or flight as her. She does it for fun, and because she thinks it makes others feel good to be complimented. If she notices the other dragon is misinterpreting her or uncomfortable, she will stop immediately. The clan, however, is used to her antics, and either idly accept her praise, or blush and thank her, knowing it heralds no serious relationship.

She handles all the clan's food needs. When she's not cooking, sorting ingredients, or tidying up, she's out hunting, gathering, or harvesting. She often uses her flame abilities and a keen sense of smell to help her cooking.

Aurantiaco talks with anyone who will listen with her (and some who don't), but one of the only dragons who can keep up with her chatter is Ore, the clan prophet who is notorious for her levity. The two often talk at a speed so fast and filled with so many inside jokes dragons that overhear will get a headache. When the two get into a prank war, the whole clan either suffers or laughs for days. Or both.

She also particularly enjoys getting on the nerves of the clan gardener, Maxence.
