Biography

Story

Corinna lived in a successful and wealthy fae clan in the Starwood Strand. Growing up, her arcane thirst for knowledge lead her to architecture, and she left home to study the structures of other flights. She learned much from the marble and pillars of Light, the looming and spacious homes of Shadow, the creatively rotting homes of Plague, and the open and fresh styles of Nature before she returned home.

That's her biggest regret in life, returning home. She wishes she was exalted, to never see her family again but believe them alive.

She returned to find her colony had collapsed under the weight of poorly planned rooms and the hundreds of fae. She found her family among the rotting corpses. While mourning, she hired a dragon to dig a grave for the hundreds of fae, a traveling tundra priest named Maculosus who refused to take any money for the job. After the work was done, Maculosus begged her to rest and grieve, but she left, having made a promise to herself:

This would never happen to a clan of hers again.

Personality

Practical yet eccentric, Corinna is hard to read even among the fae. To any stranger or unobservant dragon, she seems emotionless and strange, making decisions that make no sense. Her architecture, however, reveals her personality. It is straightforward, practical. Its bold beauty comes from the purpose it was meant for when built. The lack of frivolous decorations highlights the furniture and occupants in the room, and yet she still adds beauty with stone tiles, with clay tablets, with etchings and paintings made with tiny fae fingers in the walls and ceiling.

When she speaks with others, she is plain and honest, caring not for politeness and simply saying what she thinks. This is a quality appreciated by Speculo, who informs her what the clan needs to be built.

Corinna is quite bossy, which may be amusing to stranger dragons who are much larger than her. But they aren't laughing when she beats her wings around their face and eyes, telling them in a monotone voice to "carry that sh*t over there, I'm too small to do it and you need to help me." She has earned her respect in the clan, and clanmates who are asked to help her build something usually drop what they're doing and help immediately. The beauty and quality of her works are worth it.

Corinna sometimes gets drunk (not very hard for fae) when the thoughts of her dead family prove too much. She'll often spend these times with Antithema and less commonly, Maculosus, crest trembling as she cries and recounts how her sister used to sort bugs by color or the pattern of her mother's wings.

Corinna plans and builds structures for the clan and is extremely good at it. In order to build, she bosses her clanmates around, providing precise instructions on what to do, which they are happy to follow.

Corinna is good friends with Antithema, often going to spend time with her in the library when she is not working. Antithema's sweet disposition is charming to her, and Antithema has never talked down to Corinna for being small, something Corinna enjoys. Antithema also helps Corinna read when books are too heavy and large for to carry or turn the pages.

When Maculosus found Corinna again in the clan he joined, he was overjoyed. Corinna was uncomfortable at first because she associated him with her grief, but later, they became close friends, bonding over their travels in other flights. Maculosus is remarkably fluent in fae crest-language, something Corinna appreciates.
