Biography

"Run before it takes you too"

Autumn1.png
Haetara

She crouched, eyeing her prey. She evened her breathing. Tucked her tail in. And then
then she pounced, tackling her prey.
The hatchling giggled as she knocked over her friend.
He gasped in surprise and then shook her off.
"Haetaraaaaa" He whined. "You gotta warn meeeeee! It isn't fair." He huffed, frowning down at her. Haetara grinned.
"Oh come onnnn Larrrrk!" She said, wiggling side to side.
He sighed rather dramatically and glared at her (though his eyes were sparkling). His tail twitched, and then-
BAM!
He tackled Haetara, giggling too.
Haetara laughed, and they played together, rolling over and kicking, pouncing and giggling some more.
But just as Haetara was about to tackle him one last time, her buddy was gone. She looked up, and there, holding Lark by the scruff of his neck, was a strange dragon.
"Lark! What are you-"
"Come with me Lark," he said, though Lark had no choice. "You have been accepted into the new clan."
"But I want to stay here! In this clan! With Haetara..." He added the last part in a quiet mumble.
"Nonsense. There's no room. Come on."
"WAIT-Hae-Haetara! No! Wait!" He cried as he was carried away.
Haetara watched silently, eyes wide with sadness and fear. And then she was gone.
Sadness and loneliness filled her.
She knew that sometime, she'd leave too.
Leave the little clan in Nature.
And see the world.
Maybe even find Lark again
Her only friend...

After a few more moments of solemn thoughts and wonderings, she stood up.
And then
she walked
towards the woods.
Haetara wandered in the woods for a long time.
Stumbling over roots
Scattering autumn leaves
wandering
walking
lost
in thought
and
in
mind

But her peaceful, poetic wandering was interrupted.

She saw the plant-like creature and stepped back, instantly sensing that it was wrong. But it was too late. She heard a muffled scream-maybe her own-and then it was dark.

When Haetara woke up, everything felt different. Wrong.
She sat up and blinked. She was different.
She felt like she was being dragged down.
And then she saw the cause of her strange feelings.
The plant-the same, evil plant from before- had wrapped all around her.
Haetara could barely move. She hobbled along, trying to leave the forest. Trying to get the plant off.
But everytime she pulled at the thorny tendrils, it tightened. Pain filled her.
She emerged from the woods finally.
There she saw it-
Everything was different. Wrong.
Her heartbeat quickened.
Running as fast as she could, she raced towards the clan.
It was gone. There were no traces.
Plants had grown over most of it.
She was alone.
Shakily, she sat down.
Everything was different now.

As Haetara wandered towards the distant edge of Nature territory, she discovered that almost everything that got too close to her and the parasitic creature was killed.
She felt so lost. So cold. So lonely.
She wanted Lark.
Was he still alive? Did he remember her? Did he even care about her?
She realized then that she had loved him then.
And that she still loved him now.

She walked faster. Weeks later, she had left Nature territory, gone through Earth territory, around Plague, until she finally reached wind.
The creature was sucking Haetara's energy, since she wasn't letting it feed. But she kept walking. Kept searching. Kept asking.
Kept hoping.

The day came.
It was rainy. Cold. The creature's thorns dug into her scales. Her energy was almost gone.
She faced the truth.
There was no way for her to find Lark again.
He wouldn't want her-
Not like this.
She couldn't even get close to him.
With a silent tear, she gave up.
From that day on, she lived in the woods bordering some wind clan.
Haetara was slowly taken over by the creature, until she was just a hungry monster.
There was nothing that could save her.
Not even Lark.
For this wasn't just a fairy tale.
And she still haunts the woods, like many others before her...
