Mistake, Mutant, Friend

While working on some potions, Doctor Mordigael accidentally created a new friend and assistant from a hatchling that wandered too close at the right time. While Xid isn't exactly a medical professional, or even a scientist of any caliber, since his creation, he is immune to the fumes that come from the rest of Doc's experiments. This makes him an ideal assistant. And since the Doc doesn't really get out much or talk to most of the other dragons in the lair, everyone just assumes the new dragon who hovers in the Doc's lab is his friend. For the most part, it's true. If Doc was capable of friendship or bonding to other entities, Xid is probably the closest thing to a friend he's ever had.

In other news, Xid is incapable of complicated functions such as speech or logic. He does seem to enjoy being in the company of the pale coatl. He can't do much to help the Doc, but he's good at holding flasks or stirring and other simple tasks. He's naturally inclined to obey his creator, typically stares blankly with his many, mutated eyes when anyone else tries to speak with him. The other dragons in the lair admire Xid for his mutation, consider him blessed, though he does not understand their admiration. While he is not averse to the company of other dragons, he is more comfortable in the presence of dragons that don't attempt to worship him, mainly Doctor Mordigael.

The pustules on his face, which he does in fact use to see, smell something awful. Absolutely disgusting. It draws the other dragons in like flies.
