The Beast
After the storm comes the renewal. Rain was ensconced with his talanok allies when the news came through. An end to the Uprising? Peace with dragonkind, the Beastclans recognized formally as a Flight? He has very nearly gone limp. What to do now? And if there are still hostilities between talanok and Cindercone Clan, what does that mean? * Rain is in a daze. Yes, there are still hostilities against Cindercone Clan by beastkin. He has firmly established that the beastkin in question is not a member of the Allied Beastclans... so now what? And where, precisely, do his own allegiances lie? |
|
Rain is a quiet member of Cindercone Clan, mostly drifting around the edges of the camp sharing news. When Kaichi's ring is active, he is far livelier, coming to place bets and vigorously cheer on his champion, or wrestling serthis or fighting hydrena. In truth, Rain did not arrive to the clan originally for the Rogue's Camp itself, but for their talanok allies. A dedicated convert to the Beastclan cause, he is pleased but wary to find dragons who are so friendly to them. He has made his allegiances thoroughly known to the local beastclans, however, in case of a breakdown in civility. He is trying to connect with Hlenka and her allies. Rain is not close with many in Cindercone Clan, though he and Glynn have something of an accord. He seems rather suspicious of Mesa for someone who is rarely up to illegal activities, however. Physical description A fairly long spiral but thin and hardfleshed, Rain bears a striking resemblance to cables of his homeland in Lightning—an adaptation that may be fully intentional on his ancestors' part. His short, rounded wings give him a particular turn of speed even for a spiral, but are a hindrance in soaring or gliding. Rain strongly prefers to climbing or flying to walking, but when grounded prefers to move bipedally. While he has passable swimming skills, he is unusually bad at burrowing. His scent is mostly mild and reminiscent of petrichor, though tinged with ozone. Combat Rain prefers to fight from ambush. Lithe, quick, and curiously resilient, his opponents must fall to a death of a thousand cuts. He augments his somewhat small claws with a short, viciously sharp blade that he switches readily from hand to hand to foot during the battle. |
|
Origin Rain hails from a wild clan of the Wiretangle Walk. While primarily comprised of spirals who nest in the towering machinery and tangled cables of the Lightning Farm, his home clan also includes a small pack of mirrors. The spirals find the mirrors good company, and have profited in their insect-hunting from the pack's disturbance, while the mirrors find their serpentine clanmates entertaining and useful in directing them to prey or carrion and away from danger. |
|
Kin Rain has several siblings and cousins back in Lightning, but has dropped contact with them. While they are hardly the front lines of the beastclan wars, they would look coldly upon his change of allegiances. |

Familiar
The Scorchpaw Prowler, Myarl, a close relative of the fu that Wind territory talanok partner with, displays a similar relationship with Rain. She is usually able to be found nearby, though her silent tread and natural camouflage make her easy to lose in the gloom of the Rogue's Camp. Now Awakened, she and Rain are able to share brief unspoken messages back and forth at a distance but cannot see through each other's eyes.-
Deep in the heart of the Trickmurk Circus, Myarl's pelt unexpectedly darkened to black and burning runes not dissimilar to Hazard's have appeared on her. It is still unclear why this happened, but it seems to provide her an advantage in the scalding depths of the Ashfall Waste, and she has adjusted well.
