The Renewer

One day we will rise again.

Rainmurk is on walkabout with the rest of his pack. They are seeking new strategies for the new world, especially in light of the Undertides and the Deep.

Rainmurk is a semi-aquatic banescale with the habitat of a diving seabird. He serves as a fisher and gatherer of information for Cindercone Clan, and is the semi-formal leader of the Banescale Pack who dwell within Cindercone's borders.

Determined to rebuild or build a proper society for the Banescales, Rainmurk takes frequent forays into contested territory to win resources and glory. He has a specific focus on technology, as much as he can adapt to it, and his own genetic line. In his wake there will one day be a line of beautiful offspring—though Wootz, while admirably determined, is not quite an adequate mate.

Rainmurk has few associates outside of the Banescale Pack: his sister, Fireswirl; their adoptive sibling, Colada; Chlorine, who is courting Firewsirl; the grim and reserved Dessel; and his own current mate, Wootz. However, Rainmurk is well-known as reliable and generally good-natured, even to the clan's gaolers—seeing no reason to pick trouble with them over their ancestors' deeds.

Physical description
Rainmurk is a midsize, dense banescale with long wings. Built roughly along the lines of a seabird, he is an accomplished swimmer and diver and a strong walker, with the fast, clumsy flight of a diving bird. He has a somewhat bitter, wet scent, frequently tinged with salt.

Combat
The most enduring of the banescale pack, Rainmurk is a well-rounded fighter who tends to serve as the major strategist of the pack. He fights alongside Fireswirl and Colada.

Origin
Raimurk is one of two eggs granted by the gods to Cindercone Clan. The other one, Fireswirl, proved to be his sister.

Kin
Rainmurk is very close with his sister, Fireswirl and their odd adopted sibling Colada, who form the core of the banescale pack. He can show a great deal of physical affection for them, though his preferred display is the offering of gifts such as their genes. He has also taken a long-term mate, Wootz, whom he is determined to coax out of her shell.

As part of his restoration efforts, Rainmurk hopes to produce many fine offspring, with Wootz or with someone else. His first nest was somewhat disappointing in looks, but had fine spirit. All three have now gone to the gods.

Familiar

The protobeast is an intriguing sign of renewal and endurance. Rainmurk has taken him as something of a totem, and uses him to help fish for skittish gamefish.
